Haunted

"Unbelievable, it's like nothing happened," Elena sighed as we looked at that same old cheery Caroline talk about the stupid fundraiser that's she hosting.

"She's in denial," Bonnie said rolling her eyes.

"Hey," I looked behind me and saw Stefan. He looked at Elena and I with pleading eyes. Here we go.

"Hey, you know, uh, I gotta go be somewhere right now," Bonnie said and walked away. I nodded at them about to walk away too but Stefan grabbed my hand. I internally groaned while rolling my eyes. I do not want to be apart of this conversation.

"Wait, stay. I'm so sorry I haven't called," he said to both of us letting go of my hand. I crossed my arms and Elena sighed.

"No worries, I'll live,"

"I was dealing with Damon,"

"And did you? Deal with Damon?" Elena asked bitterly.

"Yes, yeah,"

"For four days?" I added raising my eyebrows at him. He looked at me with sad eyes and I backed away silently apologizing.

"You guys have every right to be upset with me. But can I explain it all to you, please?" Stefan pled to both of us.

"Sure when?" Elena asked and and Stefan looked at me. I nodded deciding to want to hear his whole story. All I knew was that him and Damon are vampires, that's all. I'm going to need more information than that.

"I gotta be home after school but how about 4:00 at the grill?"

"Ok," Elena and I nodded in agreement. I heard Caroline's heels click as she walked over to us.

"Stefan? Where's Damon? He has some serious apologizing to do," Caroline said straight faced crossing her arms.

"He's gone, Caroline," I felt my heart stop when he said that. But he's bad Tessa, why do you feel this way?

"When's he coming back?"

    "He's not coming back. I'm sorry," he said directing it to me mostly. He then nodded at Elena and walked away. Damon's gone, and never coming back.

Elena and I walked over to Matt.

"Have you seen Stefan?" she asked him.

"Nope, if you want to kill some time, you can rack," he smirked at both if us. We both stared at him unsure. I'm not sure whether I want to play an awkward game of pool with my sisters ex boyfriend...

"Oh come on, we haven't played in forever. I'll let you break," Matt smirked at Elena. She sighed and looked at me. I shrugged and put my hand on my hip. Elena and Matt talked as we played waiting for Stefan but I didn't listen to what they were saying. All I was thinking about was Damon. Where would he have gone? We don't know that he's not coming back, he could just come unannounced. My phone vibrated and I took it out. It was a message from Stefan.

Damon didn't leave. I just, I will explain later. Don't show this to Elena.  I just wanted to tell you before you flipped out cuz I know you. Be there soon -Stefan xx

My eyes widened. Damon's not gone? Elena noticed my expression and looked at me.

"Who's that?" she nodded to my phone. I slipped it in my pocket. I don't know whether to be relieved Damon hasn't left or not.

"Bonnie, she wanted to know if we needed a ride to school tomorrow," I shrugged and she sighed nodding.

"I'm so sorry that I'm late," I heard a voice and looked over to see Stefan. His hair was messy and he looked out of breath like he was rushing here.
