At the third floor, Brock watched the agents set a large conference room for the press. He wanted to make sure nobody cancelled it behind his back. Watching them work made him feel slightly better. He couldn't go on like this, bouncing from Gillian's lover to Gillian's theories to Gillian's friends. He needed to take hold of the situation in his own hands, set the pace. Else he wouldn't be able to work out the case. He needed to get rid of Gillian's clutch and do this his way.

Focus and get it done, as he'd said to Russell. And once it was done, he would gladly sit back and listen to the whole world's accusations about his behavior. Mostly about being so rude with poor helpless sweet Gillian. He scoffed. If they only knew what a cunning arrogant bitch she really was. Just like her father. No coincidence: only genetics.

Later on, he would also have time to hate her like she deserved. And feel like the blind moron he'd found out he'd been all this time. And maybe even feel hurt. Acknowledge this low blow to his trust. And how she'd turned everybody to her side and against him.

Right now he didn't care. He didn't need anybody to do his job. All of them could very well go to hell with her for a beer, for all the damns he gave. Yeah, go, trust her, let her in, be fooled as he'd been. Sooner or later they'd see and they'd understand. Or not. None of his business.

The elevator jingled open across the hall. Gillian's voice coming from the opening booth sent chills of bitter rejection all over his body.

"I know! But believe me, this will work for us!" she said on the phone in a rather loud voice.

She looked up, spotted him and headed straight to him. What the hell was she even doing here? Hadn't he suspended her? Even if Cooper didn't approve the sanction, she shouldn't be allowed into the building until her situation was cleared. Damn Gillian! Always breaking the rules!

She kept arguing over the phone. "You ain't doing a damn thing, you hear me? We're not your unit anymore, so you cannot boss us around!"

Oh, so she was talking to her precious father. That figured.

She hung up on King Gillian, snorting and cursing under her breath, and strode the few steps left to get to Brock's side. She faced him with a forced smile, her voice with an ironic echo in her soft tone. "Sir, you just stepped on the Major, the PD brass and the local SAC. So I beg you'd be as kind as to answer your phone."

Brock glowered coldly down at her, arms folded, as if he'd just found an ugly bug floating in his tea. But she didn't expect any answer. She spun around and strode away, on the phone again.

Gillian headed back to the fifth floor. Stupid bitter man! There were bullets she wouldn't be able to take for him! What was wrong with him? He couldn't be so distracted to miss what might happen! The word 'distraction' didn't even exist in his dictionary! She didn't care about his open hostility toward her. She was rather surprised he didn't punch her lights out. Shit! She had such a bad feeling about all this! The stress of the situation pushed her into overdrive, and she knew it wasn't a bad idea, giving in to it.

She saw Aldana and Tanya waving at her through the inner window, so she went straight to the girl's desk. As soon as she saw Tanya's screen, her face darkened. Shit! Just what they needed!

"Save a capture and crash the site," she ordered.

Tanya and Aldana gawked at her, not believing their ears.

"But we can't...!

Gillian shot Tanya a death glare that made the girl move back, as if Gillian had just slapped her.

"Crash it or leave," Gillian snarled.

She turned her back on them and grabbed the plasma remote. The rest of the team watched her with apprehensive eyes. She glanced at them and nodded at the plasma. "See what I was talking about?" she asked bitterly.

On the screen, they saw the capture of an independent news blog. The headline was "LIBRA 5 – FBI 0". Right below, it read, "The Libra killer strikes again after almost ten years and the FBI tries to keep it a secret."
