“Oh come on people--they are called cars-they were friggin designed to make life easier and to get to places with good time.” Ella screamed through the car window.
“Ella please its too early for that.” I tried to calm her down.
“Don’t you get me started, remember you will be late for work too.”
She was right, I will be late and Wednesday I took a sick day, so that I could recover from a hangover which I got from partying up with some gang leader the night before in a Penthouse suite with a panoramic view of the city. Sigh…what a week-and tomorrow I had my first training with Zane. Caleb and I were spending one hour on the phone before bedtime just catching up-I had to come up with an excuse for missing Tuesday night and of course I had to leave out the part about waking up to another guy and hungover.
“Hey I need to swing by my office first to pick up something. I’m meeting a client two-blocks from your building so it makes no sense to take you there first.”
“Yeah its no problem-Michael is back and he can handle morning calls and mails.”
“What the hell is this!?” Ella shouted.
“What? What?” I looked around to see what was wrong.
“Do you not see it-some asshole is in my spot.”
“Oh LaLa, we’re only going to be here for a minute let it go.”
“Let it go? Nuh huh…it’s the principle of it Rach-there it is clearly written there ‘Rodriguez’. Dumbass probably can’t read. Wait, wait there is a guy walking towards the car.”
“ Hmm…Mercedes C-Class-nice car.” I commented then closed my eyes and turned up the music. I knew what was coming-I heard the car door slam and then the muffled patwa words of Ella and the guy in the parking lot. Sounded like he was apologizing but Ella wasn’t having it-poor guy.
“Can you believe the nerve of that guy.” Ella cursed as she started the engine.
“Unbelievable…” I replied sarcastically.
“Your ass is asking for it-you can join Dylan on my Shit List.”
“Dylan?? On a first name basis are we?” I teased.
“Oh please, never in a million years with such ill-mannered, disrespectful jerk.”
“Well, at least he got a nice car.” I said as I watched it leave the parking lot. “Hey Ella I forgot to mention I got two tickets for some play tomorrow, nothing too special but the after-party I heard will be something not to miss-and well its been a while since we’ve been out and burn some eyes.”
“Yeah sounds great- we haven’t gotten a chance to wear those outfits we bought in Dubai yet too.”
Including the one I bought for my date with Caleb but I already had that one reserved for the Gala next month.
“Won‘t you be tired after your training?” Ella asked as we approached my building.
“I wouldn’t worry too much about it-the tickets are free and we need a night out.”
“True, so I’ll pick you up at 6.” she said and then drove off.
I turned to step into the building and I found Peter Clark holding the door for me. He was such a gentleman when his brother wasn’t around.
“Where is your brother?” I asked as the stood by the elevator doors.
“He’s already in office-working overtime.”
