Becoming Me

The Big Escape Pt. 2

When we all finally got over the fact of all of our recent events we all laid back on the couch letting our heads barely miss as they plopped back.
"So skittles does that mean you think sexually about Derek?" Brooke asked bopping my nose.
"What no... I don't know... I don't think so... maybe." I stuttered out.
"Out of all the people? Are you sure?" Jeremy asked reassuringly.
"This is new news to me too." I said rubbing my face I new in the back of my head this wasn't as new as I made it seem.
We laid there for a small time until Derek and Brandon walked in.
"Can I see you for a minute?"Derek said holding his hand out for me. I took it and he pulled through the back door where a small table for two waited and the evening sky was perfectly setting and small fake candles on lily pads floating around the pool were lit for when it became dark.
"Derek wow this looks beautiful I just wish I would've changed." I said fluffing my dirty prom dress I never changed out of with my wavy tangled hair.
"I wouldn't change a thing." Derek said trying to brush his fingers through my hair then shaking it out of the tangled mess. We laughed as he patted my head instead.
"How'd you like your adventure today?" Derek asked pushing in my chair when I sat.
"What do you mean?" I asked very confused.
"Everyone was in on it we got you drunk and you ended doing the crazy stuff without our help." Derek said laughing.
"Your saying I was the only one who actually doesn't remember a thing about last night not to mention you let me waste my money on a bird?" I asked not as mad as I should be.
"Well we were drunk just not as drunk as you and you insisted on getting the parrot couldn't say no to you." Derek said grabbing my hands, "don't worry you had a fun night." He said making a kissy face at me.
I couldn't keep a straight face I started to laugh as my brother, Brooke, and Jeremy came out with a big box with a ribbon on it.
"What's this?" I asked Derek.
"Open it and find out." Derek said motioning me towards it.
I took the ribbon off and slid the box open and inside was my dented bed post and painted on it was "Derek & Jade forever" I laughed and embraced Derek in a long hug that felt like it lasted forever but I didn't mind.
Our three friends put the gift against the wall and walked back inside and tried to secretly watch from the window.
"Jade Marie Volvex through these past few weeks you've mesmerized me into falling so hard in love with you and honestly I don't know how you did it but all these memories we now share are what piece our love together and they have been the best days of my life and the fact that you have helped me to become a better man, person, friend, and hopefully your lover."
Derek's  words were so serious yet sincere and they left me speechless how can something so great and sweet come out of Derek.
"Are you on the same page or not cause if not I can leave and we can pretend this never happened?" Derek said standing.
"No..." I said getting up and taking him in a long warm kiss.
"I'll take that as a yes then." Derek said embracing me in another kiss.
The rest of the night felt so surreal all my life I've been waiting for this moment where me and the love of my life would share this life changing experience and here I am.
When I woke up in the morning for school it was light no almost falling off the bed . I finally got what I wanted. Happiness. I pranced my way to the kitchen dancing my way to the fridge when out pops from the pantry is my partner in crime.
"DEREK!" I screamed as he picked me up almost dropping me on the floor.
"Well chef Jade whats for breakfast?" Derek asked.
"Hmm I was thinking maybe you took over the reins this time." I said sitting down.
"Well then it looks like we're getting a McDonald's breakfast today." Derek said grabbing the keys.
"Aw yeah!" We shouted as the whole group crowed in when they heard McDonald's.

Long story short we all let the school year come to an end and we finally became high school graduates I walked with my best friends Jeremy and Brooke, Derek walked with my newly single brother Brandon (him and Clarissa didn't work out), Zach was suspended when they found out he was having relations with our science teacher Mrs.Lilac through out the entire year that's why he took the class twice, Clarissa dropped out to become a herpes advocate let's just say my brother dodged a bullet with that one, as for me and Derek I'd say we're doing just fine. As a group we will be attending the same college in the fall for more grand adventures. Thank you for joining my journey on my way to becoming me.
