The pain wasn't as bad anymore. But I still felt anxious. Like something was coming. Whether it was bad or good I didn't know. All I knew was that something was off. But it was a good kind of off. The kind that gave me a chance to be somewhat normal. Like as soon as that something got here, I'd be able to be less miserable. Like the empty feeling in my stomach was going to go away. The heavy object on my back was going to disappear. The throbbing headache and throat would..well, you get it. I'd be happy. My thoughts halted because the voices outside my door started up again. This time, they were the same voices as before.
The younger woman began pounding her fist on the desk in a fit of rage. "DAMN!" She shouted. I jumped a bit.
"Remember, Doctor Greene, your blood pressure," the older and much quieter one spoke up.
Doctor Greene took a long breath. "I have to send out someone who's indestructible, don't I?" She said calmly.
"We recommend somebody with a weakness that is less obvious to the human eye. Either that or somebody fast enough to prevent her from getting to their weakness," the older one spoke.
"Then that means..." I had the cold feeling that she was staring in my general direction. Most likely at my cell. "He's not ready. He'd just leave her alone."
"Well, what would make him ready then?"
"We need to make him hungry," she said sickeningly.
"What?"
"Hunger takes over all beings. If you saw an innocent puppy dog in a desert, and you were STARVING, you'd kill for it. I mean that literally," she laughed.
The woman was taken aback by her statement. "D- Doctor, that's..."
"GENIUS!" Doctor Greene shouted.
"N-no! It's cruel. You can't do that. Is that why you've been neglecting to feed him since her break in?!" She was no longer quiet but furious.
The doctor giggled and gave an, "mmmhmmmm!" With delight. "And just wait," she chirped, "It'll effect him in a surprisingly short amount of time.
I thought she was insane. I was right, of coarse. She needed to stop. Why did she even want Amber? My thoughts stopped when my stomach demonstrated a whales call. I quickly realized that her plan would work. My sanity was diluting. The main reason? Well that was obvious...
I was hungry.
