I regretted my decision on coming here. Security was piling up around me. So much so that the area was extremely hard to get through without making any guards suspicious. I had to throw a few pieces of trash around the area as a distraction for them.  My main objective was to find Miss Amber and hide behind her for the rest of the mission.
I slipped passed more and more security. It got easier as I went along. Maybe I was getting farther from her. But I was sure that I was headed in the right direction. I followed the signs to the gate that she had been located at. Why wasn't security getting tighter? Eventually though, I made it to the halls that were completely empty. The white interior of the building and bright lights should have made it less eire. However, the absence of people made my stomach sick with anticipation. I didn't know why I was so scared. All threats were now long behind me. Still, a shadow seemed to loom over me.
"Amber..." I called out quietly for her. No response emitted from any direction.
I began sprinting down the halls for some reason. I felt as if my life was in danger if I didn't pick up my pace. Finally, I found a room requiring a key card. I had forgotten to pickpocket that scientist for his. Greeeeaaaat I thought to myself.
The sound of sprinting footsteps frightened me. They were light in their feet but sloppy. Like they had been running from something. I hid behind a corner to see a blur of Amber shoot past me.
"Miss Amber!" I called with slight relief.
"Uh? Oh god," she said turning toward me.
She grabbed my hand and yanked me into the room with a keycard that she had somehow possessed. She shut the door and covered my mouth. Whatever she was running from bolted down the hall with the clank of glass or porcelain.
"Where are you, miss?" A little girl could be heard outside in a robotic tone. I heard it turn the corner that I had been hiding in and slowly make its way far from us.
"Are you alright, bud?" Miss Amber said as she checked me for injury.
I couldn't help but laugh as she tickled me when she was doing it. "I'm fine," I said smiling up at her.
"Good, I don't want to lose my job," her shoulders became less tense as she sighed. "I'll think of your punishment later. For now, let's just get out of here before that thing finds us."
I hadn't noticed that I had been grilling my rabbit so tight the whole time. Amber grabbed my hand and my white knuckles became their usual pale selves.
We exited the room. Occasionally, I'd find Miss Amber glancing at the signs above her head. We seemed to be heading for an area labeled 'altercation president's office.'
     What could that b-
My thoughts cut off as Amber stopped in her tracks only to pull out her gun and cling my hand tighter.
I heard porcelain clanking against the floors behind us.
