I woke up in hospital, my mum was sat by the bed I was resting in. The room was clean, the thick scent of disinfectant attempted to suffocate me and the clean white sheets and walls made me feel calmer than ever. However, I had no idea why I was there or what was going on. At the time I had no recollection of the mugging, of Maia, or anything.

"Mum... What am I doing here?" I asked her, I tried to sit up by using my arm to prop myself upwards, and then the pain all surged back - I began to remember.

"I don't know the full details, love, but you were stabbed. Your friend who called the ambulance said the two of you got mugged, honey." My mum explained with tearful eyes, she stroked my good arm as she cried to herself.

"Wil I... Will I be ok?" I looked down, to try and see the injury, but there was just a bandage wrapped tightly around.

"The doctor seems to think so, you've been here overnight, we can leave as soon as you think you're ready." She told me.

            "I'm ready."

As we drove home from the hospital my mother explained a few more things to me. "At 1 you and your friend, May, have to go down to the police station, you have to tell them waht you can remember... So I want to know, what can you remember?"

"I don't know." I answered, that was the truth, every now and then I had flashbacks of a man, a tall man. I remember Maia getting hit, I remember him touching me and then I remember running and then,,, then,,, nothing.

"You're going to have to do quite a lot of thinking in the next two hours then. Your friend isn't at school either today - trauma - you should meet her. Get your story straight." Mum suggested, I nodded along with her. At that moment  we pulled up into our driveway and my mum cut off the engine. Neither of us move though or spoke. We just sat there in a shared silence, that was until she tapped my shoulder and got out of the car. I followed closely behind.

I carefully made my way upstairs, not paying attention to anything, I kept getting still images in my head - like screenshots - of little bits of the incident. i had left my laptop out the night before and it stayed there on my bed, it had been plugged into charge so I could hear a very faint purring noise emmiting from it. I pressed the enter key and the screen lit up and it all came back to life, everything was how I had left it, the tabs were the same, my chat was open with Maia and everything. I began typing.

Hi Maia, my mum suggested we meet up to get our story straight.

I waited what felt like hours - but what was 5 minutes in reality - for her to reply.

I'll be at the park in 5 x

I didn't bother changing or anything, I just stood up, walked downstairs and straight out of my door. Instantly my heart raced, I had done this the day before and where had it got me? It had gotten me in hospital - stabbed. I had to persevere though, despite the fact I was hyperventilating and tears were forming in my eyes. I walked down the street just trying, urging, myself to think of some form of comfort. The sun. That was it. The sun was a guardian, when it happened the sun had gone but now it was shining in the sky like usual, it would keep me safe, and this helped me to remain atleast semi-calm.

When I got to the park Maia was already stood there waiting, she didn't have her natural glow or anything, the light she had in her eyes was gone and her smile had faded. She stared at me as I walked down, my arm in it's sling and bandage, I couldn't tell what her expression was but she kept staring. As I reacher her she put her arms around my neck and cried.
