80 members of Dragon Slayer stand in a court room in the dragon city. The lawyers for Dragon Slayer had argued that they were attacked first, unfortunately records from Dragon Slayer headquarters proved that Dragon Slayer attacked first and had planned to eliminate all the dragons. The prosecuting attorney for the dragons showed pictures of the murdered hatchlings, injured dragons in the hospital, grieving dragons, mothers crying. The four dragons who were sitting as judge for the trial listen, the jury was both human and dragon. It took the jury 30 minutes to come to a unanimous decision. After the jury returns they have a human read off the verdict.
"We the jury find the defendants guilty on 350 counts of first degree murder, 86 counts of assault on a minor, 27 counts of assault on a senior citizen and 25 counts of obstruction of justice."

The members of Dragon Slayer hang their heads knowing that there was no way to get out of punishment.

The lead judge nods and says.
"What does the jury recommend for as punishment for their crimes?"

The same human stands and says.
"The same as the humans, death. Although it seems that the dragons on the jury have a different idea of punishment. The dragons have suggested that the defendants be given the choice between death and serving their time in the mines."

The lead dragon nods and says.
"We need a unanimous decision on punishment. We will confer and make a decision based on your suggestions. Thank you, the jury is dismissed."

The jury nods and walks out, the humans give hate filled glares at the members of Dragon Slayer as they walk out. The dragons walk out not even looking at the defendants who were at a loss for words.

The lead judge looks at the defendants and says.
"Do you wish to say anything before I read your punishment?"

The members of Dragon Slayer shake their heads.

The lead judge nods and says.
"Very well. Your punishment is going to be, 100 years in the mines."

The attorney for Dragon Slayer stands and says.
"Your honor, if I may I'd like to make the courts aware of something."

The lead dragon nods.
"You may. What is it that you wanted to make the courts aware of?"

The attorney for Dragon Slayer nods and says.
"Most of my clients are 40 years old, that means they will die before they finish their punishment. Humans don't live as long as dragons. In fact one year for a dragon is three for a human, meaning if born at the same time the human will be six years old when the dragon is two."

The judges nod and turn to each other talking in dovahzul. After a few minutes the lead judge looks and says.
"Given this new information that we had forgotten about. We have decided to change the punishment to 10,000 hours of community service, with the stipulation that if you refuse to follow directions or commit any crime. It will result in instant death. Do you accept?"

All the members of Dragon Slayer nod and say.
"We accept, and agree to the conditions."

The lead judge nods and smiles.
"Good, the next dragon you see will be in charge of deciding what tasks you are to do. I pray that he shows you mercy."

James walks through the doors, every one in the cout room gasps. James looks at the humans and says.
"Let's go, I have many tasks that need immediate attention. You will be given food, water, a warm safe place to sleep, medical attention when needed and you will be allowed to shower."

One member of Dragon Slayer looks at James and says.
"Why are you being so nice to us, we have caused you pain, suffering and killed dragons?"

James smiles and chuckles.
"I think it's time you see just how gentle and caring dragons can be. We aren't the mindless savages you make us out to be. Although I will admit that we do have some bad dragons just as the humans have bad humans."

The members of Dragon Slayer follow James as war dragons walk beside and behind them, getting to where they will be staying James looks at the humans and says.
"Keep this in mind. If one gets in trouble, all will suffer the consequences. So I suggest you keep each other in check. I know what you were told by the judge. I'm altering it, depending on the crime that will determine what punishment is to be given."

James walks away, he stops and looks back.
"Prove to me that you are not pure evil and I may reduce your sentce. But you must prove it beyond the shadow of a doubt."

The humans look at each other and nod, they couldn't believe that they were being given this second chance. And none of them were going to waste it by doing something stupid.

One of the humans step forward and says.
"King James, we are truly sorry about what we have done, perhaps this is what we need to truly understand dragons. If this works out Dragon Slayer will no longer fight against dragons, instead we will fight along side dragons."

James nods and smiles.
"We will see human, prove you are true to your words. Prove yourself to be trustworthy and honorable. And perhaps we will fight side by side."

The humans nod and look at each other. One says as he watches James walk away.
"It wasn't the dragons who caused this, it was us. We were the aggressors, they are the victims."

Another nods and says.
"We stupidly let our fear control us. Instead of doing the right thing and trying to be friends we were idiots. I won't blame him if he never trusts us. But that's not going to stop me from trying to gain his trust. We all should work on trying to gain his trust."
