Clash Of Wings And Fury. I Became A Dragon (Part 2)

Vengeance

After the trial of Peaceful Dragon by the human justice system a small group launches an attack on James. As James, Nightmare and their children walk to the orphanage several gun shots ring out, James is hit four times, none of them lethal. The group of teenagers run in an attempt to escape before they are captured. Two make it out of the dragon city and two are captured, James is rushed to the hospital as  Athena cries, Lucas growls in anger as Nightmare tries to comfort Athena. Word is sent to the human justice system and pictures of the two teenagers and what they did, the parents contact the dragon city juvenile justice department to try to get their children home. The request is forwarded to the high court in the dragon city. Upon review of the case the high court sets bail at 2.5 million dollars each. The teenagers are charged with attempted murder of King James.
The parents file a request for help from the president demanding that their children be released without bail and all charges against them dropped. A few days later the teenagers are returned to their parents, the families are forbidden to ever set foot in the dragon city for 100 years. The parents are required to sign a legal document saying that they understands the requirements. The teenagers are also put on the known terrorists list in the dragon city, the situation creates a new tension between dragon and human. It doesn't take long before the human world finds out despite all efforts to keep it from the public.

Supporters of the dragons march in protest calling it an act of terrorism. They demand that the ones responsible for the attack be tried as terrorists.
"The dragons deserve justice for this cowardly act of terrorism."

The supporters of Peaceful Dragon call it a act of justice.
"Dragons have no place in the human world or being alive. Kill the dragons!"

The two groups clash and a fight breaks out in an attempt to help the dragon supporters dragons stand behind them, but do not get involved the dragons only help care for the wounded. Nightmare, Athena and Lucas watch from a hill as the humans fight each other.

Lucas shakes his head and sighs.
"Why can't they just accept that dragons are peaceful and want no harm to come to the humans?"

Nightmare sighs and says.
"Because some humans believe that they are the ones who own and control everything. Plus it is human nature to fear what they don't understand, and their fix for it is extinction of what they fear."

Athena nods as she watches.
"Perhaps it is best that dragons and humans never interact with each other."

Although injured James lands behind Athena and says.
"You believe that throwing away everything I have worked so hard for is the right way?"

Athena turns and bows to James.
"If it fixes this problem then yes."

Nightmare looks at Athena and says.
"Daughter, that would only make things worse. Your father has sacrificed to get this far, and turning our backs on the humans would only lead to a full scale war. Thousands would die, and the humans wouldn't stop until they have killed each and every dragon."

Athena nods in understanding of what Nightmare had said.
"So it's best if we keep trying to change their minds about dragons, right mother?"

Nightmare nods and smiles.
"Yes daughter, it was the rogue dragons who caused this problem. And now James is trying to correct it, although I am not sure humans and dragons could ever be friends again."

As James, Nightmare, Lucas and Athena watch a member of the Peaceful Dragon supporters takes a short at a medical dragon, killing her. In response to the attack police show up and arrest the shooter and anyone else who has a weapon. Not surprising that the only ones with weapons was a Peaceful Dragon supporter. The dragons leave the wounded and fly off in an attempt to save their lives, only after they are reassured that there was no other weapons did they return to care for the wounded. The daughter and son of the female dragon killed cry for the loss of their mother, filled with rage and anger the son slashes his claws at the one who killed his mother ripping the human's stomach open. Not finished he crushed the human's head as he lay dying. Before anything else could happen Nightmare tackles the son holding him on the ground. The son gets up and attacks Nightmare, with a quick snap of her tail Nightmare knocks him unconscious. It is at that moment everyone stops fighting as Nightmare looks at the humans teeth bared as a powerful growl comes from her.
"Stop this nonsense now! You humans have become more like a wild animal. The dragons are more civilized than you are, and you claim that humans are the only intelligent species? You are nothing but uncivilized, heartless, murders. Peaceful Dragon, change your ways or face the wrath of Nightmare, you have one month. If you fail, I will fix this problem myself."

A supporter of Peaceful Dragon attacks Nightmare with a large knife, with a flick of her claw the human gets sucked into the abyss never to be seen again. James wasn't happy about what happened, but he knew that Nightmare had enough of the fighting. Nightmare looks at the humans and says.
"That is only a taste of my true power. Heed my warning, or suffer the consequences."

Oh crap! Nightmare is pissed and has just given the humans an ultimatum. It's not wise to piss Nightmare off, she has control of an energy called dark matter. Let's hope this little display of power by Nightmare has an effect.
