It's terrible when someone you love dies. Especially if that someone is your best friend.

When someone you care for dies it's like the breath has been sucked out of your lungs. Like the pain has been injected into your veins and all you can ever do is feel the sorrow, the loneliness, the loss. It was the universe warning her about how everything you loved could disappear as in an act of cruel, dark magic. Like a heart attack. In seconds, unexpectedly, without a second chance to breathe. All she lived for had been snatched away from her grip.

Abilene Cook was never sure why the universe hated her so much. From her eventless love life to the terrible childhood that no one had a clue about. Her best friend had always been the one who understood what it was like to be alone. And without her best friend, that's all Abi was.

Until she gets the attention of a handsome guy, who happens to have a girlfriend.

Until everything with her mom starts rising back.

Until she falls in love. . .

What could've been of Abilene Cook if Cadence Morris was alive?
