The First Smile, Reborn

It's Too Late

(Rosemary's POV)

I let out a half smile to him. I made it on the ride that I said I was going to make, I was going to force him to love me even if he hated me for it. This was the only way to save Add, and to get Eve out of that world she was stuck in. "Thank you... thank you so much!" He sobbed and went on his knees. I could see tears weep from his eyes, I couldn't say anything. I bent down to him, "She misses you. I know she does." He nodded and I grabbed his hands, "Let's go." I stood up, and he slowly stood up with me. 

He looked at me, with grief and sorrow. I could tell he was hurting from the inside out. I gave him a smile, filled with hope, love, and faith. I knew he would get better, but to do this I had to force him to do something he would never think of doing. We walked side by side, to the place he was currently staying at. I wouldn't describe it as warm, and cozy, more as dark, mysterious, cold, lingering... I was a tad bit afraid of the weird atmosphere. "Sorry, I know it's a... dump." Everything was unorganized, books were scattered everywhere, pieces of paper were left on the floor, the bed wasn't even a bed. He had stacks of documents on top of a desk and on his own bed. He had a small set up on the floor with blankets, cushions, things that made it, whatever it was, able to sleep in. 

"No, no, it's okay. I can only imagine what you've gone through."  He didn't smile, he didn't react, it was as if something in his emotional circuit wired off. "It only gets more and more difficult every day, without her, I am not Add." I nodded, looking around, I understood his love for Eve. "I promise, you'll see her again. I won't give up." He sat down on the cushions on the floor, scratching his head, searching for answers, "What's your name?" I turned to him, pushing my full undivided attention onto him. "My name?" He nodded, I tilted my head and said the wrong answer, yet the true one. 

"My name is Ruki." He gave me a good look, looking me up and down like he did earlier, "Very well. I've seen you with the El Gang. I know Rosemary is a part of that group-", time stopped for a second. He said my real name, the original name, my only true name, "-and I was curious if you've seen her." I shook my head and stood against the desk, laying all my weight on it, "Rosemary disappeared. It seems to me it's too late for her."
