#5. Lunar Darkness / Chapter 8

After talking with Simon and telling him my plan, I felt a little better about the whole experience, and surprisingly the trip was quicker than I expected. It felt like a longer version of a sleepover to be quite honest.

The moon came closer and closer to us, and by the time we woke up from a long slumber, our 48 hour Monopoly game was still set out, and we were now entering the Moon's atmosphere.

"We better get into position for the landing because it's going to be pretty rough," Simon said to me strapping himself into his seat.

I followed suit, finishing the last part of our 'elaborate plan,' and then sat down with him for the landing.

As the rocket began to hurdle towards the Moon, my body felt like a smoothie in a blender, "Hold on!"

All of a sudden there was an accelerating force and a thumping feeling against my chest! But steadily the pace started to level out, and we were being lowered down near the colony...

As we landed, I quickly put on my suit. Later they wouldn't be required, but now that we thought about it, we honestly felt safer having them on. What would happen if an asteroid broke through the dome covering the city? You'd be fucked!

As we were putting on our equipment, I could hear small noises coming from outside. At first, I didn't know what to think about it or how to react, realizing we weren't alone anymore.

"Do you hear that?" I asked Simon as he tightened some gear.

"Yeah, it sounds like a crowd of people trying to be quiet."

"You think it's the citizens?" I asked now deathly unsure.

"Only one way to find out," Simon said clicking the button which opened the vault...
