"Well, that's the end of the book." The Count said as he shut the book in his lap. "Time's up, and I need an answer!"
Maurice was silence at first and then gave a grimacing smile, "With pointed fangs I sit and wait; with piercing force I crunch out fate; grabbing victims, proclaiming might; physically joining with a single bite. What am I? Well to me it seems apparent that you are a vampire!"
"Hmm... you have impressed me Maurice; I didn't expect you to be so intelligent to come up with the correct answer. The twist in this story however, is that I was never going to let you go!"
Count Sacrificiu leaped at Maurice with his fangs sticking out in bloodcurdling terror!
But as The Count pressed on Maurice's frail little body, he realized his crooked nails had gone straight through him.
"What?! What kind of trickery is this?!"
"You see Count Sacrificiu, the actual twist of this story is that I'm not alive. I haven't been alive for hundreds of years like yourself, I'm a ghost!"
"A ghost? You can't be serious?"
"I am indeed, and I refuse to leave your presence!"
"What do you mean?"
"I expect to be read a book every night when I come back here."
"And why would I do that for you?"
"Because if you don't I could make your life a whole lot worse..."
"How?"
"Count, you don't want to find out... and if I were you, I'd start looking for tomorrow's book..."
Count Sacrificiu glared up in shock as Maurice flew up into the sky and through the roof. The Count ran to the window to see Maurice flying further and further along the quiet countryside, and as he gazed up at the moon, the fireflies and hills of grass beckoned him to read another story...
