Hope you all are having a great Memorial Day!

Okay, so I thought I'd share some stories from work. For two summers (2015 & 2016), I worked at a dairy bar and deli, then the second summer I also worked at a concession stand/boat rental at the beach. (owned/managed by the same people)

1. It was a slow day at the dairy bar, at least at that moment. At times, we could go from no business at all to a line of people ordering ice cream in minutes. The dairy bar is a the corner of a busy highway and a residential street. So, as a vehicle turned down the residential street, I almost expected it to pull in the parking lot.

Me: Aaaand...

Coworker: Can you hand me the bucket?

*car passes us*

Me: No.

Other coworker: 😱 *sarcastically gasps* What did you just say??

Me: 🙊 *blushes, then laughs* *hands over bucket*

2. A group of people (maybe four, all adults) walked up and ordered ice cream. One of the guys asked of we had rainbow sherbet. We told him we did.

When he ordered, I could already see his excitement for it and I loved that. He ordered rainbow sherbet with strawberries, bananas and chocolate syrup with whipped cream and a cherry.

He said, "I can believe you guys have rainbow sherbet!"

As I prepared it, they were watching me and I overheard one of the ladies say, "It's a work of art!"

Gotta admit, I was proud how it looked if I do say so myself.

I just LOVED their enthusiasm! Made me really smile for awhile.

3. Me: *almost done with dishes*

Coworker: *puts more dirty dishes in my dishwater* "Merry Christmas."

"Oh, joy." 😂

4. Sort of older couple pulls up in an old, restored truck. I was taking their order and watched them get out of the vehicle and walk up to the window.

Me: *trying to be friendly and just give a compliment* Nice car.

Man: Um, excuse me? That is not a car. It's a truck.

His wife: *laughing*

Me: Okay, alright. Nice truck.

In my defense, I say car a lot out of habit. And it was a small rounded "truck". Lol I'm sure you know the type. Here's what it looked like:

And my whole life, I've always heard him say about the other trucks that are small compared to ours, "That's not a real truck

And my whole life, I've always heard him say about the other trucks that are small compared to ours, "That's not a real truck." And about the one he's driving. "This is a real truck!"

Sheesh! Men and their trucks... Touchy subject when you call something by the wrong name. XD

(Reminds me of the time my dad had just bought a KIA. He saw a car that looked exactly like ours in a grocery store parking lot. He asked how he like the car. Then the man said, something like, "That's a quality Ford, not a cheap KIA." and cussed him out, all while his wife was laughing hysterically. The two cars looked exactly alike! Getting off track here, though. These are work stories, not stories about the fam.)

5. After working at the beach one day, I walked in at the dairy bar to get my paycheck and check my work schedule.

Let me just say, I walked in at the oddest possible time.

The first thing I see is one of my coworkers sitting on the freezer. Thats not the odd part. The odd part was...

I kid you not.

He wearing a piece of aluminum foil shaped like a hat. The other two were just standing there, not knowing how to react to me walking in.

I gave him a confused look as I passed them and he wiggled his eyebrows at me.

Probably the most awkward silence I've ever experienced. Not really for me. Just for them. That's good to be on the other end for a change. XD

I didn't ask. They didn't tell.

Now, I kick myself for not asking. These are the times I wish I had a time machine.
