They said I wouldn't make it
They said I'd be pregnant
They said I'd drop out
They said I won't amount
To anything in life
I won't shine bright
I won't take the lead
But that didn't stop me
I pushed
I strived
I fought
I cried
I was depressed
I was out
I was down
In a drought
But I got up
I dusted off
I pushed harder
I tried it out
And I succeeded
and excelled further then they thought I would
I'm a 2017 graduated
I survived family
I survived the hood
Not a drop out
Not a hoe
No babies
But I have a diploma to show
