It was funny how it all started. A small boy, with his even smaller sister. The boy loved her so, so much. Of course, the boy's mother and older sister paid no attention to the two.
But they didn't need them, the two had a wonderful time alone with each other. They caused frolicked in the backyard, day after day of endless fun, playing whatever they both wished, however random and creative it was. It was especially fun when they visited their old garden. It may have been old and starting to wither but it made the two feel that they had purpose.
Then one day the fun ended. The girl was in a bed. Oxygen mask on. It all happened so fast; so sudden. The boy had no time to react.
In that bed was the last time he saw that girl. Her beautiful face. He never learned how she passed, he was just told she was gone. No purpose.
Just like that the boy lost himself. He felt no happiness. He felt nothing. He no longer went in the backyard or anywhere for that matter. He just sat in his room staring at his ceiling listening to her favourite song, thinking of what he could've done. How he could've helped her with whatever it was that was wrong.
He cried often, sitting in his room alone. His mother never went to his room. His older sister had some sympathy. Same with his twin younger brothers. The sister visited him, usually bringing the food he never came down to eat at dinner, while the brothers tried to get the boy to play with them. They hadn't heard of what happened to their sister as they never met her. The boy yelled at them to get out of his room, screaming and throwing whatever he could.
The mother never bat an eye to him. He just left him to squander in self doubt.
It was the one day that he realized what would happen to the garden that the boy finally left his room. He heard that garden him and his sister used to visit was getting built over.
He ran downstairs and screamed to his mother, "Take me to the garden! Now!"
His mother coward in fear. He had never seen such rage in her son's eyes. And so she did as he said. She took him to the garden. Nobody else came under the boy's wishes.
They arrived and the boy ran to the back of the house that sat in front of the garden. He fell on his knees, tears in his eyes at the sight of the forest behind the garden he stood in. A lone tree he hadn't seen in years. "I Love You, Liam!" was engraved into the side.
The boy buried his face in his hands as tears rolled down his face. But instead of thinking of her in that bed, no oxygen left in her lungs for unknown reasons, he thought of the fun they had.
They drew in the dirt and talked often on their thoughts of random ideas. It was the best time the boy had ever had.
And that's when he felt it. It started in his hands, soon going to his arms reaching his heart, then his brain, then his feet till the feeling of shaking swarmed his body.
Suddenly I was in a bare room, white walls, watching a whole world. I was no longer in the garden. I was no longer in the world I didn't want to know.
I was in my own world that I wanted to know. My world where there was peace.
My brothers eventually joined me. I helped them enter the state of mind i was in where i could enter this world.
I apologized for everything I put them through and they forgave me. Later one disappeared and one still roams the world I had created.
I created peace until it was broken.
Only you and your friends can fix this, Amelia. Only you can make things right.
Amelia took in all this while tears fell from her eyes in the dark room, fear clutched with sadness, waiting for someone to rescue her from her frozen, scared state.
