Frosting

Finally, the livestream is over. I'm exhausted, but extremely happy to have spent that time with all my friends. Mitch insists he makes dinner for us all, and he doesn't seem to want any help doing so. That doesn't stop me from feeling guilty as he slaves away in the kitchen without any help from us.

I slowly stand up, making my way through Avi's weird house to find the kitchen. It's been around twenty minutes, I wonder what I can help with.

I turn the corner to the kitchen entrance, hesitating to walk in before shaking my head and walking past the doorway. As I do, I hear a soft, quiet voice singing.

At first, I assume it's Mitch, but it doesn't really sound like his singing. It could be from his phone, but last I checked, he only listens to Beyoncé and Zayn Malik. The voice is... quiet. Steady. It wavers in just the right places in the song, and I quickly recognize it as an unusual Christmas song.

"Memories made in the coldest winter.." the voice softly sings, barely audibly. I turn the corner and see Mitch singing as he puts casserole in the oven, setting the timer and preparing something else.

"Goodbye, my friend. Will I ever love again?" He continues to sing, leaving me struck with awe. I mean, he's an amazing singer, but I've never heard him so... quiet. He sounds so different. It's calming.

I frown as I realize I have to ruin the moment, knocking on the doorway to let him know I'm here. He jumps back from the tray of whatever, giving me a startled look before chuckling.

"Hi?" He says, going back to the tray. I walk closer to him, looking over his shoulders to see that he's rolling dough for Christmas cookies.

"Need help?" I offer, watching as he rolls out the dough silently, missing his angelic voice.

"Nah, it's all good," he says, putting the roller down and grabbing a cookie cutter, turning around and looking straight up at me. "Unless you want to cut out some cookies with me?" He asks, waiting for my response before he grabs another cookie cutter.

"Sure," I smile as he hands me the cutter in his hand with an excited grin, grabbing another and immediately getting to work, moving over so I can stand next to him.

For a few minutes, we sit in comfortable silence, cutting out snowmen and stockings, Christmas trees and gingerbread men. I decide to break the silence.

"Won't everyone else want to cut out some cookies?" I ask, ceasing my actions and holding my hands in place on the cookie cutter. "Won't they get jealous that Chef Grassi let me help him with cookies?" I grin.

"They don't have to know, Chef Hoying," Mitch says, turning to smile at me before continuing to cut out trees. I chuckle, picking up frosting.

"Well, as long as no one has to know.." I say, making a small pile of frosting on my finger tip before sucking it off, smiling at the fake angry look Mitch gives me.

"Fine," he says, taking the frosting from me. "If you're gonna be that way," he trails off, making a perfect mustache on his upper lip with the frosting. He licks some off his lip, smiling again at the sweet, thick blue decorative sugar. I pout at him, cutting out another cookie.

"Unfair," I complain, just before I feel a weirdly cold sensation on my lip.

"There, now you have one too,"He says, turning back to the cookies and idiotically placing the frosting down next to me. I ignore it for now, going back to cutting out cookies.

He walks in front of me, pinning himself between me and the counter, as he leans over to get a stocking cookie cutter. Expecting him to move, I'm surprised when he just continues while he's standing in front of me.

Smiling, I lean over and grab a snowman cookie cutter, putting one hand on his hip as I lean over his shoulder to cut out some more cookies.

"Scott?" He asks, continuing to cut out cookies.

"Yeah?" I ask, sounding oblivious.

"Whatcha doin'?" He asks again, making me smile yet again.

"C'mon, there was too much Mavi on the stream today. We have to balance it out," I say, my voice unintentionally deep and my words slow. I feel him shiver.

He mumbles incoherent words as he continues what he's doing. I reach over and grab the frosting, licking my blue mustache before squirting it straight into my mouth. Mitch turns around and raises an eyebrow, taking it out of my hand before I'm done, causing it to leave a line of icing down my lip. He puts some on his lips, licking it off immediately.

"Okay, that's unfair," I protest, growing slightly confused as he keeps staring at my lips.

"Something interesting? My eyes are up here," I mock, smiling when he rolls his eyes at me.

"Your lips are blue," he says, turning back to the cookie sheet.

"I wonder why," I chuckle, taking the frosting as he sets it down and making another mustache. He looks at me again, chucking and looking to his feet before his glimmering, blue eyes meet mine again.

"You idiot. You have icing on your lip." He says, shaking his head.

"Yeah, that's kind of the point," I say.

"No, I mean-ugh, here," he says, gently placing his hand on my cheek as he uses his thumb to wipe the blue frosting off that traveled down from my lip. He brings his thumb up from my chin, stopping at the corner of my lips. Eynning his thumb over my bottom lip, his stare breaks from my lips to my eyes, then back down to my lips once more. I swallow as I realize what position we're in.

He's still in front of me, my hand on his hip as the other holds the icing. I'm practically pinning him against the counter, our waists almost touching. His left hand grips my arm, his right hand on my cheek as he subtly plays with my lips, spreading the blue frosting around my bottom lip.

"You got frosting all over my lips," I playfully pout. He gives me a look I don't recognize, one that makes me feel slightly more.. comfortable.

"I'll get that for you," he whispers before leaning in and pressing his lips to mine. I immediately drop the icing on the counter and bring my hand up to cup his cheek. His lips are slow against mine, gently moving our lips together at a slow pace. I close the gap between our bodies, moving my hand from his hip to his lower back and pulling him closer.

His lips taste like frosting and cookie dough, making me smile into the kiss. "Did you eat some cookie dough?" I ask, pulling away slightly to look him in the eye.

He looks up at me with playful eyes. "Maybe," he says, his gaze fixating on my lips as he leans closer again. Our lips press together again, this time a bit more rough, the kiss filled with slightly more passion than the first. My hand moves from his cheek to the back of his neck, smiling against his lips as he giggles, hardly breaking the kiss for a second. He pushes his lips to mine again, his tongue running over my bottom lip. Before anything else can happen, I hear footsteps coming toward the kitchen.

I immediately jump back, startling myself as Kevin walks in.

"Hey guys, do you need any help in here?" He says, and suddenly his eyes narrow. I look at Mitch, noticing he has a hardly noticeable smear of faint frosting around his lips. I don't need a mirror to know I have frosting on my face, too.

"Nevermind, I think you guys got it under control," Kevin laughs, walking out. Just before he's in the living room, I hear him yelling. "Don't eat the cookies! Also, Avi! You owe me twenty dollars!"

I look over and see a flustered Mitch with a small smile, one he's obviously trying to hide. He goes back to cutting out a few more cookies after running a floury hand through his hair.

I smile, walking up behind him and wrap my arms around his waist. I see his cheeks tinge pink as I rest my head on his shoulder.

"Hey, Mitch?" I get his attention, watching as he glances at me and gives a hum in response.

"You're still a great kisser."

He flushes red.
