The Dragon Stone

Chapter 19

               They all stared at him in disbelief. He opened their cells and Pyria run up and hug him. He hugged back.

"What happened to you?" Kalin asked. Dorian was wearing brand new clothes.

"My uncle and I put our difference to rest." Dorian told them.

"Now let's get you all changed then head to the library." He added walking away. They walked to their rooms and Kalin walked in her room and saw the bathroom. Their already was water for her. She finished washing and wrapped a towel around her. She went to the closest and looked through it. She looked at her previous clothes. She needed a new image she was not the thief she once was. She grabbed a green shirt and black pants then she put on a red leather jacket. She look in the mirror at her hair it was matted. She grabbed a knife and cut it. She cut it to just below her jaw. It was had a new color, it was platinum blonde with little waves. She looked at herself and felt a jolt of pride. She grabbed her two daggers and put them in the holder on her lower back. She smiled and walked out to find Kaston and Dorian. They looked up and their mouths fell open at her.

"Your hair!" Kaston said. Kalin walked over to him and kissed his cheek.

"So like it?" Kalin asked.

"Yes, very much.' Kaston answered her. Dorian was awkwardly looking at the floor. They stood there waiting for Pyria and Orist. Pyria came out with shiny new armor and hair red hair was brighter. Dorian breath hitch and she smiled and blush at him. Now Kalin and Kaston felt awkward. Orist took another ten minutes until he was ready. He walked out and said are we all ready?

"Yes, did you have to fix that lovely locks you have?" Kalin asked.

"A matter fact I did." Orist replied smugly. They all giggled at the two.

"To the library." Dorian said walking down the hallway. They finally reach the library and opened the doors to reveal a giant room full of books. Every wall had bookshelves all the way to the roof. They walked around in awe of the size of it. They started their search. Looking high and low for books about the stone. Kalin then thought about looking for a book about the Dragon Lords. She brought back one book which was 3 inches thick. She sat down and started to read. It said that they were mighty warriors who fought against dragons and after the dragons disappeared the Slayers disbanded and became the nobles.

"How could I possibly be one of those hero's descendant, I am just a lowly thief." Kalin asked herself. She gasped as she fell out of her chair and grabbed her head. Kaston was the first to reach her. He kneeled down and gently placed his hand on her shoulder as she whimpered in pain. They all stared at her with worried looks. Kalin saw flashes of memories, her dad picking her up and spinning her in their home, Her mom cooking while she watch and helped when she could, then looking up at the blade on the fireplace with the red gem, and her mother and her trying to get out of the house with flames shooting out at them. Her mother ripping the gem and giving it to her as Kalin clutched her badly burned arm. Her mother kissed her head and said I will always love, my sweat then she through Kalin out of the window as the house collapsed. She cried for her mother but bad looking men were coming so she ran. Her dad then found her and pick her up and took off towards the river. Her father saying never forget us and we love you as he through in the water as the bad looking man came ever closer to them. The man had long brown hair and a little beard with glowing blue eyes. She felt the cool water wash her away from this nightmare but the stone fell out of her hand as she was taken by the current. Kalin gasped at the new memories. She looked to find everyone looking at her.

"I'm a Dragon Lord descendent." Is all Kalin could say. They stared at her in shock.

"What do you mean?" Orist asked.

"All my memories came back, my father and mother dying and my village being burned down by an army of men." Kalin told them.

"That does explain the stone only working for you then." Dorian said. They all shocked by this.

"What happened to your village?" Kaston asked. Kalin got back up and sat down again.

"Well my family were the lords of the village and it was a happy and cheerful place until an army marched in and started setting fire to the houses. Our house was being burned down so my mother and I had to get out. She grabbed the gem which was in a sword but I was already badly burned by the flames. My mother told me goodbye as she threw me out the window since the house was collapsing. Then it fell on her and I ran away to find my father. We then took off toward the river but a man started to follow us, he had a giant axe. My father threw me in the river. My last glimpses of my village and father were it being set on fire and the man with the axe killing my father. I ended up losing the stone but I have found it." Kalin finished. Kaston hugged and kissed her cheek.

"We must go tell King Shutu that we will be leaving soon to go find your village." Dorian said.

"Wait you would come with me?" Kalin asked in disbelief that they would want to continue this journey.

"Of course, we are basically a family." Pyria told her. They all agreed and headed towards the throne room. They walked to find a man looking very similar to King Ned. He sat on a throne of red. He looked down and said my nephew theses must be your friends."

"Yes uncle they are, may I present the leader of my father's army and my loyal guardian and friend Pyria and her dear brother Kaston, then our loyal friend Orist, and my friend and the reason we came Kalin." Dorian announced. They all gave bow to the King.

"Welcome to the Red Keep but I can't help but wonder my you Kalin are the reasons for coming?" King Shutu asked.

"Well my King, we wanted information about something called the Dragonstone." Kalin answered.

"What is this Dragonstone you speak of?" Sutu asked.

"This my King." Kalin said pulling the dagger out. The guards grabbed their weapons. The gem or Dragonstone made the blade burst into flames. King Shutu got up and walked near it. He circled around her and was impressed by it.

"Is that all it can do?" He asked.

"I can make it turn anything into flames and make things explode." Kalin informed him.

"That is rather amazing." He replied. She sheathed the dagger and step back with the group.

"We must be leaving soon, Uncle." Dorian told him.

"Why?" he simply asked.

"We have found our next lead, thank you for your hospitality." Dorian replied. They were about to leave as a solider ran in and collapsed but not just before saying we are under attack. They were all in shock but snapped out of it and went to work.

"Who is attacking me?!" King Shutu demanded.

"Your brother.....King Ned sir." A solider told him.
