Amelia begrudgingly left first thing the next morning, despite wanting to stay longer. Emily made her go home, insisting that her dad and step-mother would be worried about her. Am knew differently, but when she walked in through the front door, she was tackled into a hug by two people. Now, Am had expected a fuss from Hannah, as the girl was probably up all night asking when she was coming back. But what Amelia didn't expect was for her dad to join in with the bone-crushing hug. "Am, i had a realisation last night. After Grace slapped you, i knew that i couldn't be with her anymore. We are getting a divorce.I'm so sorry for ignoring the evidence all these years." her dad said, making Amelia smile through her tears, as her dad hadn't hugged her like this in years.
"It's ok, Am. your home." They all stood in the hallway, hugging each other for a long time. To anyone else, the three of them looked like they hadn't seen each-over in years. This was the reality of it, since Amelia hadn't really been herself since Grace came along, and neither had her father since she hated both of their true personalities. A few hours later and they were all sat down in the living room when they heard a knock on the door. Hannah was curled up on the sofa next to her dad, both nearly asleep due to lack of sleep because of Amelia's departure last night.
Amelia stood up from her place on the floor, making her way through to the hallway and looking through the eyepiece in the door, shocked but excited to see Will smiling at her on the doorstep. She yanked the door open, squealing as she pulled on his jumper sleeve, dragging him inside the house. "Will, what are you doing here?" Amelia giggled, hugging him close to her for warmth as the October wind was harsh. "Well, they said i could go home today, and when i woke up and you were gone, i was sad. So i thought I'd come and visit you" Will said, resting his head on top of Amelia's and wrapping his arm around her waist as they walked into the living room.
"So, what you told me on the phone was true then? Grace is really gone?" he asked, upon seeing her dad and Hannah fast asleep on the sofa. Amelia smiled and thought about how Hannah would rather stay with her than her mum, and nodded at Will. "Yes, she's really gone. My dad likes you, by the way. he thinks that it's good that i spend more time outside, thanks to you" Amelia said, making Will laugh as he sat down on the floor, pulling Amelia between his legs after he had got comfortable.
Amelia lent her head against Will's chest as she relaxed into him, entwining her fingers with his as they watched ET in comfortable silence. They were both still in the same position when her dad and Hannah woke up, but with Ben sitting next to them, having arrived about an hour ago looking for Hannah. when she spotted Ben sitting on the floor next to Will and Amelia, Hannah blushed and quickly fixed her hair before grabbing Ben's hand and dragging him up the stairs to her room.
Amelia laughed at the antics of her little sister and Ben, before turning to face her dad. She hoped that he wasn't too mad that Amelia had been here with Will when he was asleep, knowing how protective he was over her. But when Amelia turned back, she saw that the two of them were engrossed in a conversation about football. Amelia should have known they supported the same team, but whenever Will started talking about it, Am just kind of zoned out since she didn't really know (or care) about anything related to football.
Amelia smiled at the pair of them, happy that everyone was getting along. it really seemed like everything was looking up, and she couldn't wait to tell Charlie everything later.
