The lunch time couldn’t have arrived fast enough. As usual Linda mentally kicked herself on her ass for the fact that none of her friends were in the same Calculus I as the ever mathematically-genius Kelly. Right now she stood in line in the school’s cafeteria with Felix and Lotus in tow, waiting very impatiently to grab their food before proceeding as usual to their lunch spot under the bleachers next to the football field. The three of them knew how Kelly was always among the first ones to arrive and then gone waiting for them to eat their lunches together. “Goddess, I hate this!”grumbled Linda feeling annoyed under her breath. Lotus and Felix snickered, seeing that their friend Linda behaving this way was completely out of norm and totally an over-reaction. But they both understood what Linda meant. They all needed to get to Kelly fast to make sure the little friend of theirs was okay after everything that had transpired early this morning.

Moving as fast as if their asses were on fire, the three of them carefully with trays of food in their hands walked as fast as they could to their lunch spot. Minutes later, they finally arrived, only to be met with the very saddened and in full of pain face of their friend Kelly. Linda and Lotus sighed heavily at the sight in front of them. And Felix just had to shake his head in disbelief seeing his best friend in sheer emotional pain.

“Kelly…” Lotus sighed out softly, and Kelly turned to look at her and finding out his three best friends walking towards him and sat down at his sides and in front of him. Linda’s heart was breaking for Kelly but she knew that they all needed to be strong for him because he needed them the most at this most trying time right now.

“I-I’m f-fine, guys.” Kelly softly croaked. “Seriously. Sit and eat,” he further whispered. Nodding and humming their agreement, the three obeyed and started with their lunches.

After the wiping away snots and tears with his long-sleeve button up shirt, Kelly just stared into oblivion. There was really nothing he could do about anything at this point. He didn’t really feel like eating or drinking, nor did he feel like talking or listening to what anything or anyone had to say for that matter. He’d heard some whispers and snickers of people pitying him for getting bluntly rejected. He’d also heard some vile and hurtful comments people made about him being the ‘lucky one’ to be paired as a mate to Knoxville. But right now the one comment he’d heard that scared him the most was how his pack was doomed because of the fact that the future Alpha was now fated to have not only a male as a mate, but a non-werewolf for that matter. That really stunk and hurt him and Wolfie deeply.
