Chapter 2: Lost Dreams

3000 years ago

“A newborn’s cry was heard. A shout that was very pleasant to hear- a sign of new life. The Queen just had her third baby girl after the birth of her first twin daughters-Raven and Robin. The Queen named her Dianna. Unlike ordinary guardians, those who are chosen by the Queen to guard over a zone or a particular element, including the Queen herself stop their aging in a particular age and never die-except when a mortal weakness hits them(e.g. suicide, murder, etc.). This made the Queen live for thousands of years.

While in her room, Minna held her daughter’s hand, touched her head and kissed her. Raven then entered the room with Robin at her back.

“Mother, she’s as beautiful as ever,” said Raven.

          “Indeed sister,” agreed Robin.

“Dianna will become the next guardian of crystal. She will inherit my prowess and fight for peace as any guardian will do. When she grows up, I hope that both of you will teach her everything that she has to know about. I’m counting on you.”

          “Yes mother.”

          “Agreed!”

“Robin, as the Guardian of Darkness, I assign you to a very important task.”

          “What may that be mother?”

“While preparing for the night to come, make sure that all of the guards will watch over the Kingdom. It’s your sister’s birthday after all and we have to protect her from foreign harm. As for you, make sure to activate the barrier for us to know if anyone is entering or exiting the Kingdom for protection purposes.”

“Yes mother. Your order shall be granted”.

The Guardian then prepared a spell for the activating of the barrier. She ran downstairs of the room and told the guards to prepare themselves for any upcoming harm to shield the new princess.

With that, the Queen and her daughters prepared for evening’s come-Lights where off, people began to sleep and of course, all of them rested. As the clock turned exactly 12 midnight, something unusual happened.

Even a respected Queen had her downfall. Unknowingly, before Robin even activated the barrier, a man, who wore a hood so his face can’t be seen was already peeping in the room where Dianna is, just waiting for the family to sleep. Unexpectedly, he got her and gagged her mouth to stop her from screaming. He was as sly as a fox as no one, neither the guards nor the Queen had heard him enter. The man then began to take her away from the castle and headed for the temple where the Divine was kept. The goddess was still a statue and can only be activated by a forbidden spell that only the Queen knew about. It was never allowed to be learned by anybody but herself. But, unexpectedly, the man knew what to do. He stepped in the temple, with Dianna and did the ritual, facing the front view of the statue he said:

Reginam vult regina dilecti tui noctis somno experrecti, rogo. tua ex te saepius audit. omnes gentes, et laudemus te de somno excitare iterum!

(Queen of wishes, queen of the beloved, I ask thee the awakening of your night's slumber. let your people hear from you once again. let all nations wake from their sleep and praise you once more!)

The spell was broken and the goddess who was frozen all the years, known as the Divine opened her eyes and to her summons, she escaped. Even the most holy of all holy could never enter the forbidden temple, to preserve the goddess simply because awakening her might cause wars to inherit her power. Remember, only chosen people are shared with her prowess. This started the kingdom’s crisis to find the UNKNOWN. That man, in two events, broke history- the missing of the Queen’s daughter and the missing of the goddess. The barrier was no use. He also went out of the barrier as if nothing happened-As if he was a mere wind- immune to the protection. With Dianna, he ran away from the Kingdom and when he reached the farthest hill, he turned back and saw the magnificent view of the Kingdom, carved with pure diamonds and gold. He then turned the child and said:
