I lifted my head from my hardened pillow, remembering gingerly the events of the previous day. I smiled, crinkling my nose and making tears sprout from the corners of my eyes. Oliver wasn't it bed when I looked over.

I rose to my feet and stretched my arms. Pacing to my closet, I grabbed my blue robe off the handle and headed downstairs.

Oliver sat at the kitchen table, facing the living room TV. I smirked when I realized he was watching 'The Walkng Dead'.

"I was thinking we could go to Dunkin' Donuts. How's that sound?" he asked. I nodded and left to get dressed.

•••••****•••••

Thirty minutes later, Oliver opened the passenger door for me. "Ma lady," he said. I snorted and climbed out. My eyes widened at the sight in front of me.

A completely totaled car sat in one of the parking spaces. I hadn't heard anything about an accident on the radio.

In fact, the last time I'd heard of a major accident like this was when Renn got hit.

I shrugged it off and followed Oliver inside the restaurant. Our waiter seated us (he looked strangely familiar) and asked for drink preferences. I asked for water, Oliver got coffee. As the waiter walked away, I could help but noticed the scars covering his arms and face.

"Did you see the car yet?" Oliver looked at me, then the window behind me. He nodded.

"I'm looking at it now," he replied. The waiter appeared with our drinks. We smiled our thanks and looked at the menu.

"Nothing seems good- Oh! How about bites?" I looked at the seat next to me, disappointment flattening my smile. I must be elusive. Renn's not here.

Oliver set down his mug after takin a few drinks. He stared thoughtfully at the totaled car, then the waiter. And then glanced at my forever-broken elbow. He pulled out his wallet and stared at a picture of my mom.

Fuck. I know what he's thinking. The waiter. Scars. The car up front. I knew it was familiar. The dark shadow the one day at school.

I stared hard at Oliver. "Why us?" I whispered.

The waiter appeared from around the corner, an eerie smile splayed across his scarred face.
