I fumbled my keys and finally found the cars'. Pushing it into the ignition and turning it, I grasped the wheel with shaky hands. I sped to the house. Fuck speed limit signs. Turning left, I felt my jaw drop. But something pinged in my mind. This was MY house. It didn't seem so as I watched a news van unload and focus on the neighbor.

I stepped out of the car, highly aware of the frustrated tears beginning to bubble behind my eyes, threatening to roll quietly down my cheeks. I tapped on the new reporters shoulder. "What in the name of Jesus are you-" I broke off and looked into the background. A black body bag was on the bright green grass.

A wail formed in the back of my throat as I saw the favorite watch of Oliver's lay on the ground behind the body bag. His shoe poked out of the corner of the bag.

"No." Several thoughts ran through my mind, and my knees buckled underneath me. Dimly aware of the sorrowful hug from someone, then strong arms lifting me up. Soon I was being carried bridal style in a vaguely familiar man's arms.

We entered my home and they set me on the bed in my room. I choked out a sound as Samy stood in tears, Elise approaching with outstretched arms. The one who'd carried me in had left.

"How.. How did he die? My Ollie?" I looked expectantly at Samy and Elise. They glanced at each other and Elise started,

"He was poisoned. That's what they think."

Instantly I remembered how he'd complained against the sour taste in his coffee this morning. And the car. The man.

The man that'd been standing across the yard. Smiling grimly.

And I knew that someone I loved was next.
