The day was coming to an end. Everyone was getting reading to head back to their tents to go to sleep. I watched the nurses count up the medications and jot down notes as they were almost done refilling the cabinets.
Cody and I were sitting at the front desk, since we offered to cover the night shift tonight. Well, Cody didn't volunteer, I had to drag him into the clinic and force him to stay with me. He's my cousin, who annoys the sh** out of me, but I would much rather prefer him over Katherine to cover the night shift with me.
"Is there any more of that instant coffee?" Cody asks while swirling in his chair.
"Check in the pantry room." I say. "We should have stocked up on some of it today."
Getting up from his chair, I watch Cody leave the clinic heading towards the pantry room. Finally some peace and quiet. Cody was still getting used to around here. He joined the U.S. Army right after medical school, and it wasn't until about 3 weeks ago that he began to serve for the army.
Cody came back holding two mugs filled with coffee. He handed me one of the mugs, and I nodded my head as a form of thank you.
"Is it true that the girl we found in the jungle, is a spy?"
Looking at Cody I give him a quizzical look.
"Where did you hear that from?" I ask.
Excitement was filled in Cody's eyes. "Rumor has it that she is a spy working for the Russian government...or possibly the mafia."
Damn. How do people get such ideas and spread it so fast. But then again I also thought she could be a spy and had asked for her info to be pulled up.
"Do you think we'll get an award for catching a Russian spy?" Cody gleamed.
Raising my hand up, urging for him to come closer to me, I smack the back of his head.
This instantly shuts him up. Or so I thought.
"But do you think-,"
I cut him off before letting him finish his sentence. "One more word Cody and I'm gonna have you covering all the night shifts for the the next two weeks."
Now that got him to shut up.
A few hours had passed without much happening. Cody and I occasionally took turns checking up on the patients who were sound asleep.
"Is Tyler here?" I heard.
Turning around I saw Travis at the front desk, with Cody pointing at me. I placed down the folder that was in my hands, and slowly walked up to the front desk.
"I was able to pull up some info on the girl," says Travis while raising the manila folder in his hand.
Travis places the folder on the desk and flips it open. A picture of the girl pops up along with all her info.
"Her name is Evelyn Rose Graham, 29 years old, a cardiothoracic surgeon at the Presbyterian Hospital in New York. Her father has his own business there making millions, and her mother is a stay at home mom. She had had an older sister who died, but I couldn't get more info on that because it is classified. She joined doctors without borders a few years back and worked at different locations. Her last location was in Afghanistan."
"Damn it," says Cody.
Travis and I look up at Cody with a stern look.
"What? I can't be the only one hoping that she was a spy?"
Ignoring my so called cousin, I continue to glance at the papers on the desk.
"There was a bomb blast at the hospital she was working at in Afghanistan," Travis continues.
"I guess she was telling the truth. She was probably taken from there after the bomb blast." I say.
"Except," Travis says with a pause. "Evelyn's body was found after the bomb blast in the hospital."
Confused at what he just said, I look up at Travis waiting for him to continue.
"She was pronounced dead on scene."

A/N- Short chapter, I know. My mind wasn't functioning and I wrote this chapter with every chance I got while working at the hospital. But ohhhh snap. Evelyn is dead *gasp*. So who's the girl sleeping just a few rooms down? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Leave a comment down below as to who you think the girl might be.
