The New Girl

The New Girl-Chapter One

"Mom, I'm going out for a walk, I'll be back soon!" I shouted

"Ok honey, be safe!"

"Finally I get to get out of this house!" "Now I can just walk around and be free for a bit!" Oh sorry, I should have introduced myself. I'm Lizzy Hunter and I'm 15 years old. I live in a small town and my life is really boring. I have 2 best friends, Star Jenner and Aleah Gates. But now I'm down to just Star. Aleah vanished about a year ago when she was 16, nobody has seen or heard of her since.

Anyway, back to my walk. There is a forest a few blocks away from my house that I come to a lot. It's really pretty, with tall trees, Spanish moss hanging from their branches, an little streams that lead to a big pond in the center. But today the usually noisy and filled with light forest was dark and quiet. As I was walking along my usual route j noticed a big pile of leaves and Spanish moss. It looked as if somebody had shaken it down from one of the big trees above. Me being the curious girl I am walked over to the pile and started clearing it away. Once the pile was removed the wind picked up and I got pushed into the hole that I had just uncovered. It was pretty big, about 8 feet deep, but there was a lot of Spanish moss at the bottom that made the landing soft.

"Great, now I'm stuck down here!" I looked around, trying to find a way out when I heard humming. Not human humming but the humming of a machine. I followed the sound through a surprisingly bright tunnel. The humming got louder as I reached the end of it. In front of me there was this big metal chair with a lap bar attached to it.

"What the heck?, Is this some kind of joke?" "Hello, is anyone there?" I got no answer. With no way out and nowhere to go I hopped into the chair and locked myself in. The humming got really loud and then it stopped. Suddenly the chair dropped at a unrealistic speed.

"AHHHHHHHHH!!!" I screamed, so loud I thought the whole world heard me. In complete shock, I unlocked the lap bar and got out of the chair once I reached the bottom. There was another tunnel, shorter but with more light at the end.

"Ok! Whoever did this can stop and take me home now!" Again I got no answer. As I walked into the light, I realized that this wasn't a joke. Right in front of me was a whole world that I didn't even know existed! "I have a feeling that I'm not going to be home soon."
