The New Girl

The New Girl-Chapter Four

In the morning I woke up to breakfast that sat on a table beside my bed. It was pancakes and eggs. At least there is still good food down here.
After breakfast I got dressed and met the rest of the gang in the living room.
"Hey Lizzy, are you up for some training today?!" Eli asked me excitedly.
"Yes! I am so ready!"
"Great, cause we start now." Eli said.

We went outside and, with my arsenal of slugs, started to practice. Eli gave me an old blaster that he said we can replace later, then he taught me how to load it.
"First you need to learn how to load your blaster. Your slugs are in their containers attached to your bandoleer already. All you need to do is take a container off of your bandoleer and put it into this slot in the gun with the top facing the front so that the slug doesn't get hurt. Now you try loading only, don't shoot yet." Eli explained.

I took my Dirt Urchin, Spike, off of my bandoleer, loaded him into my blaster, and made sure that the top was facing the front.
"Good, now that you know how to load your blaster, I can teach you how to aim." Eli said.
"Ok!"
"Ok so point your blaster at the target but aim a little under where you want to hit because the power of the blaster when you shoot it will make your shot higher than you want it to be, got it?" Eli asked me.
"Got it."

I took aim, my blaster pointed a little under the center of the target. With Spike loaded and ready to go, I took my shot. As Eli said, the blaster moved up from the power but I hit the center of the target dead on.
"Great job!" Eli said applauding me.
"Thank you!"
"Now you know the basics. Loading, aiming, and shooting, so how about we start your first duel?" Eli asked.
"Sure, I guess, if you think I'm ready?" I said questioning myself.
"You're ready." Eli said.

We went back inside the hideout to get Pronto, he was going to be my first opponent.
"You want her to duel such an amazing slugslinger like me for her first time? Surely you are joking! She will never beat me!" Pronto said in shock and awe.
"Of coarse she won't beat you Pronto, you're too good! This is just to help Lizzy practice." Eli said sarcastically.
"Ok but this is just to help you gain some experience!" Pronto said.

"3,2,1, GO!" Eli shouted.
Pronto took the first shot, he used his Flatulorinkus slug, being in dance I easily barrel rolled to the side to avoid its foul fumes. Then I took my Tazerling slug, Bolt, and shot him at Pronto, zapping him to a char and knocking him on his knees.
"She cheated! She can't beat Pronto?!" Pronto tried complaining, ending in failure.
"Sorry Pronto I won fair and square. Not trying to be cocky or anything but I totally kicked your butt!"
*Clapping in the background*
Kord, Trixie, and Eli are all standing there giving me a round of applause.
"Great job Lizzy!" Kord says.
"That was awesome for your first duel, and I even got it on tape!" Trixie said excitedly.
"Lizzy, you did awesome, you're going to be a great slugslinger." Eli said softly.

"Are you two coming back inside?" Kord asked.
"We will be there in one minute" Eli responded.
"We all did so good today! I'm so proud of my slugs already!"
"I'm proud of them and you too!" Eli said back.
*silence as Eli stares into space*
"Eli?" I asked as I waved a hand in front of his face.
"Sorry, I was just thinking, um....do you want to, idk, hang out Saturday night, maybe catch a movie or something?" Eli asked out of the blue.
"Would I ever!! I...uh...I mean, ya, Saturday's good!"
With that I walked away really quickly back into the hideout and into my room.
"He just asked me out!" I whispered to my slugs.
They all jumped and squeaked in joy.
"Bro that was more than a minute." Kord said.
"Sorry, I just had to ask Lizzy something." Eli said back.
