A/N: I've just recently started working on this new story. I came up with the idea last night while studying for psychology so I decided to whip up the first chapter, instead of studying. The first chapter is pretty long so bear with me and tell me if you like it. :)

Warning: It's a story about mental illnesses, therefore there will be a lot of different disorders depicted so please keep that in mind. It's totally a work of fiction so I really hope you're not offended. I'm not trying to make fun of mental illnesses in anyway, I'm just telling the story of the characters that popped into my head.

It depicts my version of a mental hospital, I doubt they are still like this. I stole the name Hellingly from one that used to be in England, I just really liked the name, it's fitting.

That is all. Enjoy.

The ping of the elevator bell alerted Felix Holloway that he had reached floor six of the Hellingly Psychiatric Hospital. As the chrome doors slid open he hesitated before stepping out, not knowing what to expect.

“Come on kid, get going.” One of the bulky bored-looking guards nagged. When Felix still did not leave the elevator the other guard grabbed his forearm and attempted to pull him out.

“Get your fucking hands off me,” Felix growled at the man while jerking his arm out of the man's grasp. Felix stepped out of the elevator and turned towards the guards giving them the middle finger before the doors slid shut again.

Felix turned around and a groan escaped his mouth as he took in the white walls, white floors, and long sweeping hallways. The place looked exactly like the hospital he had just vacated except it was missing the drab paintings of flowers hanging on the walls and there were also name placards beside most of the doors indicating permanent residency. ‘That won’t be me, Dad said I’m out of here in three months,’ Felix thought.

He walked up the hallway towards the nurses’ station, slightly self-conscious of the fact that all he was wearing was a hospital nightgown with a big slit up the back. All of his clothing and belongings were confiscated so that they could be searched thoroughly for items that could 'cause harm to anyone'. This left him in only his white briefs and a borrowed blue hospital nightgown.

When Felix reached the nurses’ station he tapped on the glass window to get the attention of the woman behind the desk. She stood up and slid open the window just enough to stick her beaky nose through.

“Yes?” The nurse asked in a nasally voice.

“I’m new here,” Felix said.

“Felix Holloway?”

“The one and only.”

The nurse nodded, and stepped away from the window to grab a folder stuffed with paper. She then opened the window fully to talk to the boy.

“Felix Holloway, eighteen years old, chronic depression, attempted suicide, and recently manifested aggressive behavior!” The nurse read the summary of Felix’s psych report aloud as if it were the best news she had ever heard. Felix just regarded her quizzically, as if she were the one with mental disorders.

“I’m Nurse Carole, it’s nice to finally meet you Felix.” She stuck her boney hand out of the window for Felix to shake, he just stared at it intently until it was withdrawn. Carole pursed her wrinkled lips together, but otherwise ignored his rudeness.

She went on to recite the code of conduct to him while he pretended to listen. His eyes fixated on the sickly pattern of kittens on her pink scrubs. One particular kitten leered down at him from her shoulder as if it disapproved of him. Felix was suddenly overcome with this ridiculous urge to punch the kitten. He was seething internally trying to supress his anger at the kitten when Nurse Carole finished her spiel.
