RECAP:

“Goodnight Bradley!” I turned and marched away. I didn’t want to face him. Why did he have to like that stupid flirtatious move?

Once I got into my room I threw my purse angrily at my bed. I hate her! There, I said it. I. Hate. Her! Most of all, I hate that she’s flirting with Bradley.

I paused for a moment, why was I angry? We weren’t a couple, we weren’t anything. Why did I feel like this?

‘Bzzt’

My phone vibrated. I picked it up and noticed that I just received a message. I was pretty sure it was from Bradley, apologizing from whatever he did wrong.

I sighed and read the text:

‘Sorry about leaving you all of a sudden, it wasn’t intended. Anyway, I’ll make it up to you. See you tomorrow at school. ~Damon’

I blinked. What?! Damon? How did he get my number? Me? What? Who? Him?!

Wednesday morning, sigh, two more days till the weekend. I marched downstairs to the kitchen and greeted my mom and dad good-morning. They were sitting around the dining table when I went over to give them both kisses on their foreheads.

I pulled out the chair next to my dad and poured a cup of coffee for him before talking. “Daddy” I began with a sweet voice. “Could you please please please drop me to school today?”

He looked up at me from his newspaper. “What happened to Bradley?” he asked fully concerned.

“Brad? Oh nothing, I just wanted to ride with my daddy today.” I smiled at him lovingly trying to hide the fact that I didn’t want to ride with Brad. After what happened last night, I so did not want to see him.

“There’s always the school bus you know.” He teased me with an evil grin.

I slumped down on the chair. “Mom, how about...?”

“Mmmm, do I smell bacon?” Brad inhaled the smell of our kitchen as he came in from the back door interrupting my question. His family and mine are so close it was normal for either of us to go to the other’s place for breakfast. Since his parents are usually away, he had his breakfast over here.

“Good morning, dear.” My mom greeted. “Feel at home.” She brightly told him before standing up and taking off to her room to prepare for work.

I rolled my eyes, speaking of the devil. I picked up my fork and began feeding myself.

“Young man, how have you been? Here, take a seat.” My dad suggested. He used the tip of his nose to point at one of the chairs around the table.

“Thanks Mr. White, and I’ve been good, yourself?” Bradley took his turn to ask pulling out a seat next to me as he did. He looked at the food eagerly, deciding which to eat first.

“I am great, thank you.” He said as he closed his newspaper and rested his arms on the table. “Bradley, I have to ask, are you driving Jessabel to school today? Because it looked like she was trying to avoid you.”

My eyes widened and I spat out the water I was drinking in surprise. My food was soaked with water and saliva, but I didn’t care. I shot my dad a look and found him close to laughs. Why does he love teasing me so much?
