"Lauren, you need to come to the home. Willa needs you."

The words kept replaying in Lauren's head as she sat in the back of the limo alone, the other girls promising to find a ride with another person once the show ended.

As much as the sound of Willa's cries in the background of the conversation made the Cuban's heartache, it also made it swell because Willa wanted her. Her baby girl needed her in a time of sadness and she was so ready to be there to pick up the broken pieces.

She sent a quick text to the Fifth Harmony group chat, explaining that she was two blocks away and that she will be giving Willa their love as well.

Ally was the first to respond, her text saying how they'll be sure to thank the fans on Lauren's behalf on the 5H account since she wouldn't be there to take the celebratory pictures with their win.

The brunette placed her phone aside as the driver pulled up at the house, her hands trembling as she leapt from the backseat and pulled the edge of her dress so she wouldn't trip. She had kicked off her heels in the limo allowing her to quickly run up the stairs of the porch and enter the front door that Ms. Lawrence explained she would be leaving unlocked.

The loud cries were heard the moment she passed the threshold, the helpers of Ms. Lawrence shooting her nervous smiles as they had the kids help them clean up popcorn bowls and blankets from the living room floor. Lauren returned the smile and quickly ran upstairs, finding her little friend and the caretaker stood in the bathroom with the shower and sink running. Willa was wet and wrapped in a towel, her body trembling as she sobbed and tried to pull her hands free from Ms. Lawrence's hold.

Lauren was confused by this because she knew that the child didn't like being restrained. However, one look at her shoulder suddenly made it all clear. Willa had a beat up arm, a sign that this set of bad thoughts brought out her rage, making her violent. Not to others, but to herself. Ms. Lawrence was holding her the way she was to stop the young girl from abusing her own body.

"Look Willa, it's your Lolo. She's here," the older woman said causing Willa to quiet briefly so she could look at the doorway where Lauren stood.

"Lolo," Willa said in her painfully broken voice, her body shaking even more as she crumbled to the floor in a heap of sadness.

"I'm here. I'm here," Lauren repeated, moving into the small room and crouching down similarly to Ms. Lawrence. Suddenly Lauren found herself sitting on her backside, because Willa had practically jumped into her embrace. It took her a split second to entirely grasp what was happening but soon enough she was hugging the towel cladded girl, her face rubbing into wet brunette hair as she breathed in the scent of Willa. She smelt like laundry and fresh air with a hint of something sweet.

Little hands held onto the back of the brunette, tangling in her own dark tresses as they latched onto any part of Lauren.

"I'm here," Lauren whispered again, smiling to herself as she realized the situation she was in. It was raw and real and it was Willa.

"Don't leave me," Willa begged in a whispered sob, her words wet with tears.

"I won't, baby girl. I'm not leaving you."

Ms. Lawrence caught Lauren's eyes, nodding her head briefly as a way to show the young woman that it was time for Willa to leave. It was time for the little girl to go home.

~.~.~

Ms. Lawrence was holding an ice pack to Willa's shoulder as the little one sat on Lauren's lap with her head pressed into the woman's shoulder and bare chest flush against the pretty dress of the woman.

It took well over an hour of running water and whispered words to finally get Willa to stop crying, and once that happened both women moved themselves to the big office. Willa knew this place was where kids went in with a couple and usually left with papers and happy faces. Something similar to hope sparked within the five-year-old as she allowed the adults to speak as they helped her dry up and dress in her pajamas.

Once she was in her pants she wanted her Lolo back, bringing them to the present where she was koala bearing Lauren as her bruising shoulder was being iced.

"I think if you come by from tomorrow night to Thursday night with your friends, we can have the idea of all four of you being around together a little bit better for her. On Friday evening you can bring her home."

Home? Willa never really had a home. She pulled back to look up at Lauren who glanced down at her. Pretty green eyes. Willa lifted a hand and placed it on the woman's cheek before saying, "home?"

Lauren laughed past her tears and nodded, a warm hand covering the small one.

"Yes Willa. Home, with me."

"Okay," Willa agreed, snuggling back into the chest of her new favourite person.

"I think all of this time you have been spending with Willa has done good. Most couples come through and choose a kid, spending a week or two to build a bond before bringing them home, but you have dedicated three whole months. I couldn't think of a better person to be a mother to Willa than you, Lauren Jauregui."

"She had my heart from the moment I saw her. There's no way I would give up on her before this moment," Lauren said. Willa felt soft lips press against her forehead and she sighed out, feeling safer in this moment than she had in a long time.

"Well, why don't we go put this little one down for bed and then you can head home and start setting up for her arrival?" Ms. Lawrence suggested, pulling away the ice pack from the shoulder of the child.

"Oh, that's already taken care of. I live with three kid crazy girls. The moment they knew I was adopting they were purchasing things."

Ms. Lawrence laughed at the words, standing up. Willa felt Lauren hold her closer as she too rose from her seat.

"What I would need are her sizes so I can have her closet ready."

"I can help you with that," Ms. Lawrence said, causing Lauren to laugh lightly. Willa began to doze after this, relishing in the warmth of the arms around her as well as the steady beat of Lauren's heart.

Before she knew it she was being placed on her bed, her hands weakly trying to hold on but unable to as exhaustion got the better of her.

She lazily opened her heavy eyes and found Lauren's green ones, once more placing a hand on the blush coated cheek of the woman before her.

"Pretty," she whispered, speaking of Lauren's entire outfit. She had said the same thing to Ms. Lawrence when they were watching the red carpet and she saw her Lolo come onto the screen with her friends.

"Not as beautiful as you, pretty girl."

"Ninite," Willa mumbled, feeling lips on her forehead before the warm hands left her arms and she was left in the darkness of her room.

She began to dream of pretty green eyes. The eyes of her new mom.
