Mary's pov

"Dad, come on before Ali kills me for being late!" I called out

"Well, maybe if you didn't go school shopping again and Ali didn't forget her radio, you wouldn't be late." My Dad said, amused

I rolled my eyes with a small smile, "Sorry, Daddy, but you know, I needed more pencils and notebooks after sharing some of mine with Ali."

"Well, maybe your sister should buy her school supplies, hmm?" Dad said

I laughed as I closed the back door of the car, where I put the food, radio, and my bag, before walking over to the passenger seat door and getting in. My Dad got in after me with an amused look on his face. I was meeting up with my sister, Ali, and her friends at the beach. I decided to come later because I was busy with last-minute school shopping. I packed up some food and Ali's radio that she had forgotten. Our Dad was taking me there because I didn't have a car yet. Finally, I arrived at the beach. After grabbing the food, radio, and bag, I wished my Dad goodbye and walked to Ali, sitting on her towel, waiting for me.

"Ugh, finally!" Ali laughed, "What took you so long?"

I shook my head, chuckling as I set everything down, "Sorry, I had some last-minute school shopping to do with Dad, plus get the food and go back home to grab your radio."

Taking off my shirt and shorts, revealing my light blue two-piece bathing suit, I saw my sister staring at something. I turned to see a tan boy playing soccer with his friends. He looked familiar. I shook my head before giving Ali a teasing smile.

"Wanna ask him to swim with us?" I jokingly asked

Ali blushed a dark red, which made me laugh. I grabbed her hand, helping her up before we both walked toward Ali's friends, who were already swimming in the ocean. It was getting dark after swimming for a while, so we all dried off, changed into our clothes, and started a fire to eat and get warm. Ali was playing her radio, and while everyone was talking, I noticed that she and the guy, now wearing a red hoodie, were sneaking glances at each other.

Next thing we know, their soccer flew over here before landing on the ground and rolling over to where it hit Ali's radio. Ali's friend threw it at her, making her, surprisingly, catch it. Ali grabbed my hand and dragged me over to the boy so they could talk. Feeling shy, I decided to keep to myself and let them talk, but I kept looking at him, still feeling I knew him from somewhere before it finally hit me.

"Hey," I softly said, causing Ali and the guy to look at me, "Sorry to interrupt, but is your name Daniel Larusso by any chance?

"Yeah, how'd you know?" Daniel said, looking confused

My smile grew as I got excited, "It's me, Mary! We met in New Jersey, remember?"

Daniel's face lit up before pulling me into a hug as we laughed, "Mary, how the heck are you?"

"I've been good," I said as we released each other, "How's your Ma?"

"Ah, you know, Ma." Daniel laughed, "Still cheerful."

I turned my head and smiled at my sister. "Daniel, this is my sister, Ali. Ali, this is Daniel, the boy I met when I visited New Jersey to visit my friend, Laura."

"Oh, no way!" Ali laughed, "This is him?"

I nodded, "Yep, this is Danny boy."

Daniel laughed at the nickname I always called him when we hung out in New Jersey. Laura is a friend who went to school with Daniel, and because we met once when she visited, we always sent letters to one another. So, one time during school break, I went and saw her for her birthday and met Daniel. After that, we all became the three musketeers and hung out every day before I left to return home. Daniel and I lost touch because we were dumb and forgot to exchange addresses so we could write to one another. But I still talk to Laura. I told her everything, including the stuff that's been happening between me and my friend, Johnny, who she had met the last time she was here.

After introductions, Ali and Daniel started flirting with one another. Somehow, it ended up with Daniel teaching Ali how to juggle a soccer ball on her knee, and I laughed while watching them try but kept failing to juggle. Finally, I decided to give it a go, so having Daniel behind me while Ali was on the side to watch. I started juggling the ball on my knee, but with the second tap, I slipped and fell. Daniel caught me, but we both fell. Ali helped me, and I helped Daniel as we all laughed at my failure. Then, I accidentally pushed Ali into Daniel, causing them to fall.

Daniel was on his back while Ali was on top of him. They were both as red as a tomato. I burst out laughing as they both stood up, glaring at me. They looked at each other with demon smirks before running after me. I ran away from them, still laughing as they tried to catch me. It took them a while, but they finally caught me. Daniel wrapped his arms around my waist, lifting me so I couldn't go anywhere, letting Ali come over and tickle me. I was laughing so hard that tears were rolling down my cheeks.

"Okay, okay, I'm sorry!" I cried out between laughs

"What's the magic words?" Ali teased as she stopped tickling me, allowing me to breathe

"Ali is the best sister ever!" I said panting

"And?" Daniel teased also

I give him a teasing smirk out of the corner of my eye, "Danny boy is a big goof."

Before I could blink, Ali was tickling me all over again. I yelped before dying of laughter again, "Okay, okay, Daniel's the bravest guy around!"

"Thank you." They both said before the tickling finally ended

I sighed in relief as Daniel set me down, and I immediately sat down, holding my stomach with one hand while rubbing my cheek with another.

"You guys suck." I whined with a chuckle, "Everything hurts from laughing."

"Well, that's what you get for picking on us." Daniel laughed

I'm glad I came tonight. I got to see Daniel and hang out with my sister. What could go wrong?
