Mary's pov

It was the next day and the first day of school. After arriving at school, I found out that I had almost every one of my classes with Johnny and his friends. The day went by as usual, minus me avoiding Johnny and his friends. I sat at the bleachers, waiting for Ali to get down with cheerleading practice. Johnny and his friends were at soccer practice which was being held at the same time as cheerleading. I was doing my homework when I heard a familiar voice, causing me to look up, and I saw Daniel talking to the Coach. I smiled as I set down my homework to say 'hi.' It soon vanished when I saw Daniel's friends from the beach picking on him before walking away. I shook my head as I walked over to him. My sister had the same idea because we met up halfway. Ali had a soccer ball in her hand with red cheeks, and a shy smile.

"Hey," Ali called, catching Daniel's attention and making him turn around, "Think fast."

Ali threw the ball at him, making him catch it sheepishly. Ali and Daniel gave each other dreamy looks, making me smile and shake my head; these two, I swear.

"Oh, hey." Daniel greeted me with a dorky smile

I grimaced when I saw his black eye, "Oh my god, your eye."

Daniel touches his eye, looking between Ali and me, "Don't worry about it. It looks worse than it feels. Believe me."

"I hope so." Ali frowned, "You know we never got the chance to thank you."

Daniel shook his head, "Oh, that was nothing. I'm sorry about your radio."

"We're sorry about your eye." I looked down at the ground, kicking the grass a little, "Maybe you should have just given it to him."

Ali rubbed my back, causing me to look back at Daniel and her. Daniel gave me a confused look with a smirk.

"Why? It wasn't his, right?" Daniel smirked amused

"Yeah." Ali smiled, "Yeah, it wasn't his."

We started talking briefly, and Ali showed Daniel that she got the hang of juggling the soccer ball on her knees. Daniel laughed and congratulated her before Daniel and Ali were called by their coaches. We waved at each other before we went our separate ways. Daniel on the soccer field, Ali on the other side of the area, and me on the bleachers. As I was doing my homework, I suddenly got a bad feeling.

I looked up to see Johnny and his friends huddled in a circle, making me concerned. Then, the game started, and Bobby discretely started a fight with Daniel, making it seem like Daniel started the fight. As a result, Daniel got kicked off the field and wasn't allowed to try out for the soccer team. I quickly packed my things before running after him.

"Daniel!" I called, but he kept walking, "Daniel, wait up!"

Daniel turned toward me with anger, "What, Mary."

"Are you okay?" I asked, rubbing my arm, "I saw what happened."

Daniel shook his head, sighing, "I don't get it. Why, out of all people, are they after me?" tears were building up in his eyes, causing guilt to swell up in my chest, "I just moved here, Mary. I didn't even do anything to them."

I hugged Daniel, making him wrap his arms around me. I rubbed his back soothingly. I felt bad for Daniel. He didn't deserve this. He is a good guy.

*Time Skip*

I was walking home from the library. I had Ali and her friends drop me off here while they hung out. I was passing Johnny's dojo when I saw him exit the building. Our eyes met from across the street, and I ran right when he started walking toward me. As I ran, I heard his motorcycle start-up, making me run faster. I ran until I couldn't breathe, so I slipped into an alley so he wouldn't see me. As I was catching my breath, I heard Johnny's motorcycle getting closer.

I ran behind a dumpster and waited. I listened to the roar of his engine stop, and everything was quiet. It was a minute or two before I peeked my head out to see if he came down the alley, but I couldn't see him. I sighed, feeling relief until someone grabbed me from behind and covered my mouth when I went to scream. The person pinned me up against the brick wall. I looked up to see that it was Johnny. He removed his hand from my mouth while I stared into his eyes in shock and a little panicked.

"Hey, Mary." Johnny greeted

"You scared the hell out of me, Johnny!" I gasped, "What do you want?"

"I want to talk to you since we couldn't talk at the beach," Johnny said, "figured this was a good time since your sister isn't here."

I sighed before lightly pushing his chest to create distance between us, "What do you want to talk about."

"What's going on with you and Larusso?" Johnny asked

I looked at him, shocked, "That's what this is about? Daniel's just a friend, Johnny."

Johnny scoffed, stuffing his hands in his jacket pocket, "Friends? Didn't look like that to me. Especially at school."

I started to feel irritated that he was accusing me of something. Nothing was going on between Johnny and me. We've only been friends.

"Why do you care, Johnny?" I asked, "What is this about, Ali? Huh, are you here to ask out my sister finally?"

His eyes flared with fury, making me shrink into myself. I knew I said the wrong thing. I know he and Ali don't like each other like that, but sometimes it didn't seem like it.

"You know, I don't care about your sister." Johnny growled, "She made you hate me, Mary. Why would I like her."

"She didn't make me do anything!" I said, "Why do you always blame people for everything?"

Johnny just stared at me. I shook my head and went to walk away, but Johnny grabbed my arm and pinned me up against the brick wall again.

"We're not done talking, Mary." Johnny snapped

"Then what do you want!" I snapped back with tears in my eyes, "Why do you care about me suddenly? You have been so involved with Cobra Kai, your friends, and fighting that we haven't talked in a while! So, why Johnny?! Why!"

"Because I care about you, Mary!" Johnny snapped, making me tense as my eyes widened, "You are sweet, kind, honest, and always patient. I miss you, and no matter what you think, it's you who I care about. It's you that I like."

Tears slowly started falling from my eyes. I've always wanted to hear those words from him. I dreamt about hearing those words. But now that they are finally being said, all I feel is fear and confusion. I'm scared of my friend. This isn't the Johnny I know.

I shook my head, "I-I can't." I pushed him away and tried to run off, but Johnny wrapped his arms around my waist and hugged me from behind, "Johnny, please. Let go."

Johnny nodded his head before hesitantly releasing me. I took off running to the only person that could help me. Bobby.
