Mary's pov

I knocked on Bobby's door with tears rolling down my cheeks. The door swung open, revealing Bobby, who looked at me confused.

"Mary? What are you doing here?' Bobby asked before looking concerned, "Are you crying? What happened?

All I could muster was Johnny's name before breaking down. Bobby pulled me into his arms, rocking us back and forth as he whispered comforting words in my ear. We stood there for what felt like hours, but it was a couple of minutes. Bobby and I are sitting in front of his house with my head leaning on his shoulder while his arm is wrapped around my shoulders. I told him what happened and what Johnny said, and it seemed to shock Bobby.

"You know, Johnny loves you, right?" Bobby asked me

I stared at the grass on his lawn, "I love him too."

"Then why don't you tell him?" Bobby asked

"Because I feel like this isn't Johnny. This Johnny isn't the one that I grew up with." I explained, "This Johnny is violent and always solves problems by fighting. He never takes responsibility for anything, and he blames other people."

Bobby nodded in understanding, "You know, if you give Johnny a chance. You'll realize that the old Johnny is still in there. He's just hiding.

I thought about what he said, and he was right. I haven't tried giving this new Johnny a chance. I just wanted the Johnny I knew from when we were kids back. But, we all grow and change into different people. I sighed, feeling guilty.

"Okay, I'll try giving Johnny a chance," I said, looking up at Bobby

Bobby smiled with excitement, making me smile back, we hung out for a little while until it started getting dark, and I knew I had to get home.

"Alright, Bobby, I got to start getting home." Standing up with a stretch, I said, "I'll see you at school, yeah?"

"Uh, where are you going?" Bobby asked, stopping me from leaving his property

I looked at him, confused, "Home?"

"You are going to walk home in the dark?" Bobby asked. I nodded, not seeing the issue, "Yeah, no, you're getting a ride. Give me a second."

Bobby stood up and went to head inside, but I stopped him looking confused, "Why can't you give me a ride?"

"Because I have some stuff to do," Bobby said quickly.

I gave him a suspicious look before slowly nodding my head, Bobby went inside, and I went to sit on his porch until my ride arrived. After a few minutes, Bobby came back outside, and we started a conversation about what we had done this summer. After a while, I heard a motorcycle engine in the distance before it got louder and louder until a familiar red motorcycle arrived in front of Bobby's house. I turned towards him with a glare before smacking his arm.

"Ow!" Bobby hissed, "Come on, Mary, you two need to talk, and I don't trust the other guys to not flirt with you."

I quietly groaned before looking at Johnny, who took his helmet off, our eyes met, and he nodded to the back of his bike. I nodded before grabbing my bag and slowly walked towards Johnny's bike with Bobby ahead of me. They did a bro hug before Johnny helped me put his helmet on. Bobby helped me get on the bike, and then I wrapped my arms around Johnny's waist, causing us to tense up. Thank goodness this helmet is on because I knew I was a blushing mess. We said 'bye' to Bobby before Johnny took off in the direction of my house. I held on tighter to Johnny since I hadn't been on the back of his bike in a while. We finally arrived at my house, and Johnny slowed to a stop. I slowly got off, taking Johnny's helmet off before giving it back to him.

"Thanks for the ride," I mumbled.

I went to walk away but stopped feeling Johnny grab my wrist. I turned towards him, confused. Johnny was looking at me with his eyes filled with regret and sadness.

"I'm sorry, Mary." Johnny said softly, "I'm sorry for scaring you and for letting my anger always take the best of me when I was around you."

I was shocked that he apologized, but it made me smile, "Thank you, Johnny. I'm sorry too. I should have given this new you a chance; instead, I was holding onto the old you, and I shouldn't have. I'm sorry."

We hugged one another in a tight embrace, neither of us wanted to let go, but we had to. So we released one another before giving each other small smiles. Johnny wouldn't leave until I went inside, and I watched out the window to ensure he had put his helmet on. After he left, I went to my room and changed into some pajamas before laying down and falling asleep when my head hit the pillow.

Susie, Ali, and I were walking through the halls of the school, talking about going to the arcade after school. Daniel showed up behind my sister while we were talking, scaring her and causing them both to laugh. Although I saw an injury on Daniel and knew where it came from, I decided to leave the three alone to try talking to Johnny. I bid them all goodbye before walking towards Johnny, who was at his usual parking spot with his friends huddled around him. I shyly walked towards them and the first one to spot me was Bobby, who smacked Johnny and nodded in my direction, causing Johnny to turn his head. I stopped when I was in front of the guys and shyly rubbed my arm.

"Hey, Johnny." I greeted shyly

Johnny smiled dorky, "Hey, Mary, what's up?"

"Oh, um, I just wanted to come over and say hi to you and Bobby." I said

This caused Johnny to smile even more. He grabbed my hand and pulled me into his side to where I was tucked. We all talked about the Halloween dance the school planned to throw. I turned my head to see that Daniel, Ali, and Suzie were looking at us, and I didn't have to hear the conversation to know that Daniel had freaked out. I watched Daniel run the opposite way with Ali trying to get him to come back. I sighed before looking at Johnny and the others with my arms crossed. They all looked at me, confused at my sudden change of attitude.

"What did you guys do to Daniel yesterday?" I asked

I watched Dutch shrug his shoulders with a smirk, "Nothing."

I raised my brow at him, knowing that he was lying to me, "Oh really?"

"Yeah, we didn't see him yesterday," Jimmy added with a smile, "Right, Tommy?"

Tommy nodded his head, agreeing with them. I was tired of being lied to, so I turned to look at Bobby and Johnny.

"You two better tell me the truth, or I will never talk to you again," I growled.

Johnny and Bobby looked at one another before looking back at me with sheepish looks.

"He came by our dojo looking like he wanted to join, so we decided to mess with him," Johnny explained.

"While he was riding his bike home, we trapped him between ours before knocking him down a hill." Bobby finished

My eyes widened after hearing their explanation, "Are you out of your mind?! You could have killed him or severely hurt him!"

I heard Dutch scoff making me turn my head to look at him, "Larusso's fine."

I scoffed before looking back towards Bobby, "I knew they would pull this, but you?" I shook my head as his eyes filled with guilt, "I'm disappointed in you, Bobby."

I looked at Johnny, and he too had guilt in his eyes, "Mary-"

"You guys are bullies, and using Karate for power proves it." I cut him off, not wanting to hear his excuse

I walked away, ignoring Bobby and Johnny as they called my name. I walked over to Ali and Suzie, who looked impressed.

"What made you stand up to him?" Ali asked

"Johnny and Bobby are my friends." I said, "It's time I bring them out of their ways."

Ali and Suzie nodded as we went to our next class.
