Prologue: Her

(Kaen's POV)-

Never before had I thought you could possibly be that beautiful.

In dedication to the girl overseas who has always been there for me. One day I'll hold you and everything will be okay.

"Merrily we fall out of line, out of line."

~

She twirled a lock of hair from my face up and over my ear, pressing her lips gently to my forehead, "I'm here baby girl." She whispered. My breathing now slow and steady I nodded off to sleep with our bodies intertwined and my head on her chest. She brushed a few of the tears that rested on my cheeks away and for the first time I fell asleep in her arms and I slept soundly. "And you're with me."

But these were happy tears; tears that I knew I wouldn't be able to hold back. Two years of wait and a ten thousand mile barrier now broken down to ruble. I had her and she had me. I talked and she talked for hours, and this time I held her; her face buried into the crook of my neck as she fiddled with the kinked ends of my hair. And the way she'd smile at me and the way I smiled at her; it'd never get old.

Lying down in bed I gazed over her and she bit her bottom lip trying to hold back her smile. My hands trailed slowly over to hers and I took a nervous breath in. We had talked non-stop since we had met. Hell, the longest time we'd gone without speaking to each other was her plane ride over here.

"I- I missed you." I said softly, murmuring into the pillow, "It doesn't make any sense but I always felt like you were gone- gone just for a little while." I breathed in, my face turning hot and my cheeks flushed, "As if you were just away and you'd be coming home." I repeated before stammering on, "I- it doesn't make any-" But she stopped me, raising my head gently with her index finger and thumb as she stared down at me; her eyes, too, beginning to water.

The street light from outside shone into the room and I ran my fingers over her temple down to her jawline and then through her hair. My mind fixed solely on her and her beautiful blue eyes that drifted from me to around my room like she was taking it all in. The feeling of holding her, of running my fingers across her and then circling patterns into her soft skin was unexplainable. I pressed my forehead to hers, brushing my lips across what was now mine as we talked aimlessly for hours; my hands at her sides and hers at mine. Her, Ellie.
