Chapter Five: Pretty Boy-
(Samuel's POV)
"You know, I'm quite sure Kaen and Ellie aren't going to judge you on the aspect of you being gay. That would be a little hypocritical of them, no? After all, you have heard them on several occasions..." Lucas chuckled, walking up behind me and placing his hand to my back. "I'm here for you."
It meant a lot to me that I knew he would- hopefully- stick around. I was confident that I would be able to 'come out' to Kaen soon, although I'm 99% sure she already knows. But that's not the point; I have to come out to her, that's what matters.
Looking at Kaen and Ellie as a couple never struck as odd with me, unless it was when I heard a muffled moan or two during the night; honestly, I think they did it half of the time just to fuck with me. Other times- though- I could tell that they were just fucking which each other; both literally and figuratively if you're picking up what I'm putting down. Women.
One night there was such an occurrence: I wanted to ask them about it for going on a week until I finally mustered up enough nerve to. It was pretty late into the night and I was up, as usual, when I very clearly heard Ellie start some shit from the room down the hall.
"Demi!" She squealed through a whimper.
"Abby!" Kaen retorted back with a chuckle.
"Hey!" Ellie dragged out, "That's not funny!" Cough [insert Ellie's pout face right here] Cough
I guess Demi is a reference to Lovato and Abby is a reference to an imaginary girlfriend of Kaen's? I honestly can't even fathom the idea. Women.
I shrugged, shaking away my lingering thoughts as I leaned against the kitchen island counter. "I suppose you're right." I muttered, peeking over my shoulder at him, "You think they already know?"
"Well, they are a gay couple Sammy. It's like 50 Shades of Gay- I mean Gray. We all know it's about sex just from the cover of it. C'mon, I knew Kaen was lesbian just by looking at her. I'm pretty sure she can tell which way I swing. Look at me, I'm very well groomed." He hummed sarcastically, giving my cheek an innocent peck.
I couldn't help but blush a bright shade of red as I let out a nervous giggle. "Well groomed my ass."
It was about four weeks since I'd first met Lucas when I was out on the fire escape ledge. Kaen and Ellie had been inseparable and honestly, it only fueled to my fire for him. I want what they have. Today's the 25th of September and they're throwing a big deal about it. Women.
In all honesty I wasn't so much as worried about Kaen accepting me, it was my father. Even though my dad and I weren't what you'd call close, I knew how he felt about 'gays.' To say the least, I'm pretty sure I'd have my ass handed to me.
"I am well groomed thank-you." He remarked self-assuredly. "Matter of fact, I think you're just jealous of me."
"That'll be the day, Lucas." I chuckled.
"The day's already here." He whispered in my ear, wrapping his arms around my waist. I bit my lip, leaning back into him.
That's when the lock to the door unlatched and my eyes widened in panic. I took a nervous breath in but Lucas let go of my hips and set his hand to the counter, peering over my shoulder, since he was a good three inches taller than me, and over to the door just in time.
"Afternoon ladies." He smirked casually and I peeped over at him. He was actually okay with me procrastinating on the obvious. He's waiting for me, for now.
"Afternoon 'gents." Ellie commended over to him, flashing Kaen an intrigued look. But Kaen just smiled at me nonchalantly and gave Lucas her usual shy, little wave and grin.
"C'mon, I know you can do better than that!" Lucas would tease and she would just shake her head and pull Ellie over to the couch with her.
I needed to tell Kaen, if I couldn't tell her then it would be next to impossible to even think of telling my father. I peered over at Lucas with wide eyes and he gave my bum a gentle tap, "Go on." He whispered, his words of praise egging me on.
I stared over at them, Kaen resting contently in Ellie's arms. I want that. They were murmuring to each other with wide smiles, Kaen then traced over Ellie's temple to her jawline. I want that. Ellie giggled, running her fingers along Kaen's arm. I want that.
"I want that." But it wasn't my voice that was saying it. It was Lucas's. "I want that." He repeated in hush into my ear. "I want that, with you."
I smiled, not hesitating to call out to Kaen still wrapped safely in his arms, "K?"
She looked over at me, raising an eyebrow at our disposition, "Yes, Sammy?" She called back over to me.
I took a deep breath in and then cockily- no pun intended- remarked, "I'm, very much so if I might add, a pretty boy."
She burst out laughing, as I knew she would. It was yet another one of our stupide inside jokes from when she may or may not have taken a picture of me trying on a bra at JCPenny's for kicks and giggles. It's something about that store and breasts- I can't put a finger on it.
She then got up off the couch and gingerly walked over to me, wrapping her arms around my shoulders, "I love you, Sammy." was all that she said. Women.

"I hope you don't mind sharing the fire escape, Kaen." Lucas began with a smug look on his face as he took a sip from his coffee mug.
"Oh, so someone does like the fire escape do they now?" I teased. "He's afraid of heights."
"You're one to talk!" Kaen exclaimed, "You should have seen him the first time I took him there!"
It was amazing being able to talk like this, like it was normal. Now of course being gay didn't make you any less of person- although not being able to legally get married didn't exactly ring out as equality in my ears- but it was something else to welcomed with such open arms. But it was Kaen and Ellie; of course they'd be okay with Lucas and I.
"Oh let's not talk about that!" I said through a chuckle. Lucas then laid his hand to my knee and gave it a gentle squeeze, "I know what we could talk about." He said through a smirk. My eyes widened, was he talking about something I had foolishly admitted to him or something against the girls?
"Let's hear it." I said sarcastically, daring him with my eyes. He then leant in and rubbed his nose to mine.
"What I'd like to lay out-" Kaen began, her eyes flickering over me and Lucas with- with pride? "Is the fact that I'll still kick your ass, Lucas, if you hurt my Sammy."
He grinned and then cooed, "Aren't you two as close as the slut and the falcon?"
"We really are." I beamed.
