Chapter 5

The battle ground blazed with fire as superman fought valiantly against Ares the god of war himself standing along side a former justice league member and traiter. Shazam. All stood still as the the crackling blaze of lost souls burned away. Ares smiled excitedly
"Hello kal-El your presence alone almost startled me and I see you are waiting for me to lower myself by battling you like a common man, I will not fight you yet, feel obliged to tell you many enemies have much bigger plans for you and your remaining friends."
Superman stood reeling in anger
"what do you mean Plans?" Shazam stood facing the ground filled with guilt.
Ares laughed again but more seriously
" Ohh I'm afraid I cannot say then again who really can stop me haha."
"Spit it out ares" Clark shouted, his temper showing increasingly in his face and body language as he stood clenching his fists.

" Ok if I must, Ares clasped his hands and looked away from Clark to the horizon of dead bodies which lay on the battlefield. Firstly I have no business for you friend Batman, The filthy lowlife joker declared he would take care of him personally and in his own words wanted to end the game once and for all. I never did much like games, you well of course Mr Luther wants you dead and I quote 'hung by the neck as he drips every last drop if that kryptonian blood from his brain'. My first encounter of the man and his ravishing plans of death and destruction soothed my worries like a lullaby. And for my Diana, goddess of war, the Aphrodite of the amazons princess will be taken care of by me personally.
"You will never get anywhere near her Ares and you know that" Clark hissed. Ares continued to ignore superman and carry discussing his plan for the trinity.
My greatest desires will become reality with no one to stop me"
Clark looked on puzzled "what do you mean greatest desires?"

Ares ignores Clark once more as his eyes grew dazed as he reminisced on his words of Diana. Superman's voice became louder as he roared in rage."you will never hurt Diana as long as I breath" he exhaled
" Stupid boy I do not wish to harm her as long as she does what she's told"
Both superman and Shazam looked in shock at the god of war.
"Then what do you plan to do to her" superman fists clenched tighter.
"A magnificently power god like myself apart from ruling my kingdom I must be able to pass this legacy down. For this to occur an heir must be present. As will soon once this war is over. Diana will become my queen as I had always imagined and will bare me a child. Our child will be the most powerful of beings to grace Olympus. But if she refuses to comply will see her amazonian's slaughtered almost instantly, she will have no choice but to love me.

"You will never ever harm her, I will destroy everyone of you until I know she is safe" Clark began to tremble in anger as his temper became more violently eager to be released.
Ares stared at superman as does Shazam intensely
" your in love with her aren't you haha destroying you will be easier than I thought. Ares begins to break down Superman's emotional wall as his comments of Diana became too much to bare.
" Do you want to know what will be of your precious princess?. While u lay lifelessly on the floor with multiple kryptonite swords piercing your heart as you watch your friends die like that batman, Diana will be lying in the my bed of my chambers after the marriage has been fulfilled chained to posts of the bed waiting for me to conceive this marriage. I can see it now, her screaming for superman to save her but no one will ".

Diane, Bruce and John looked on as johns mind reflected the actions of superman at this moment shook the world in anger as he began to punch and kick into Ares who lay faced down on the ground. Shazam quickly ran to the aid of Ares trying to take superman from behind thinking this tactic would be successful unknowing he was about to feel the wrath of a god himself. As Shazam charged at Clark fearlessly, the actions of Clark shook the very core of Diane, Bruce and John who witnessed Clark in the darkness of his own mind. He back away from Ares of course knowing shazam's intentions before ripping Ares sword from his holster, carefully swinging so accurately but angrily hitting Shazam in the neck. As his body fell to its knees shazam's head rolled to the ground at Clark's feet.

The blood drizzled like rain in a storm. As Diana looked on she tried to reach out for Clark who began to walk calmly away from shazam's dead body and Ares subdued body too. Unknowing Diana let go of john breaking the chain of telekinesis and ultimately bringing her back to the harsh reality. All three sat in silence for a few moments in the dark wet bunker, Diane stared deeply at both john and Bruce
" he's lost his humanity, no humanity no hope nothing "
"No Bruce replied softly, he still has a small piece of humanity left for someone in this world looking at Diana as he shifted to the end of the bed
"but if that goes we are done" Bruce stood up before walking quietly to the door of the next room where Ollie, Clark and Alfred remained sleeping. "Goodnight" whispered Diana as Bruce stood gazing at superman from the crack on the door wearily.
"Goodnight Diane" John replied before retreating to a well needed rest. Bruce on the other hand did not answer but just stood, staring as if he were hiding something. Something that was destroying him from the inside. Diane quickly closed her eyes hoping there would be some light at the end of this path they all had chosen.
