Chapter 12

As Bruce valiantly fought against his darkest demons Diana began her journey to save the life of any captured justice league members. Diana was transported fairly close to jokers lair 'Arkham Asylum'. This seemed all too cliche for Diana who had expected an empire built by the bodies of the dead or living, yet he chose to create chaos from a deathly looking place which closed him away from the world and life itself. As she scanned her surroundings, the stench of toxic waste oozed from the ground and had killed every living thing in sight. Diana could not help but wonder what poison ivy would have to say if she saw her creations be killed so easily. As she watched from behind the electric fence, guarded heavily by every thug and crook from jokers 'acquaintances' to lex luther's 'associates', the chance of breaking in and saving anyone seemed bleak and somewhat impossible.
"Only if Bruce was here he would have some kind of plan, gadget or something or Clark would just smash his way through this security unharmed". Diana felt a stream of guilt as she remembered how she had left Bruce and the look she saw in his eyes. Betrayal and hatred was all she could remember seeing in his eyes as he drifted into a deep sleep, the thought of causing him pain became too much to bare. Diana tried to forget what she had done and continued on with her plan.

The blinding spot lights of the security towers placed at each side of the entrance of the establishment slowly and accurately scanned and protected the very old but well known Arkham asylum which sadly Joker had full control of. Their was hope no matter how dark the future looked, Diana knew she needed to have faith because without hope and faith what did she really have?. As the spotlight moved away into the distance Diana spotted a small, weed-covered vent which led into Arkham and would minimise her chance of being seen or caught. Quickly she knelt into the blades of grass and dirt and squeezed through the narrow opening just before the spotlight returned. Diana quietly started to crawl in the vent hoping she would remain undetected as she entered Arkham. Delving further into the building, the stench of death and blood consumed her.

She stopped briefly trying not to throw up and continued through the vents until she heard a faint cry for help like a whisper of a young boy. Although as dangerous as this mission had become, Diana couldn't ignore the cry and swiftly followed the voice until a few gaps in the vent allowed her to see where the voices were coming from. Discreetly and cautiously Diana
in-lined her eyes with the holes and open dents in the vent which allowed her to see and to her horror saw lying strapped to a mental health patient bed, draped tightly with barbed wire around their arms with uncountable wires leaving his bruised and beaten body was Barry Allen aka FLASH. A tear came to her eye as she watched him be tortured by 5 thugs and two men in lab coats who pierced his body with probes and electricity probe conductors with volts strong enough to kill any normal human being. The hours passed as Diana closed her eyes hoping the screams of pain and pleads for death from flash would stop! and eventually it did as the men left the room abruptly. They smirked so childlike, it evoked anger in Diana who lay in the vent with her fist clenched wishing she could have just took the men down but knew it would be to risky if at least one of them alerted the rest of the men. Before leaving one thug slowly placed his hand around Barry's neck, clenching it tightly
" Now Barry we are off to tell Joker of your progress we'll be back in a FLASH!! you get it ... back in a.. oh I crack myself up sometimes really I do haha" after the idiotic comment the thug left giving Diana only a few minutes to free him and escape. Quickly Diana broke open the vent and jumped down to the ground. As she regained her balance she leaned in towards Flash who lay mumbling in pain and fear covered in wounds, his beautiful blue eyes covered by a unclean rag stained in blood. Diana slowly removed his blindfold placing both her hands on his cheeks " Barry it's Diana! I'm here to help you, we have not got much time to get out of this hell hole!!" Flash shook in fear but for only a moment before opening his eyes eventually realising who the woman's beautiful soothing voice belonged to.

"Diana..I...thank you...wait you can't be here..the men.....the plan...they will destroy the trinity...all will be lost." Flash began to become breathless and panic as Diana released him from his chains from the old, broken bed.
"Flash save your strength and tell me later, your going to need your strength if you want to get out of here alive!!" After helping a very bloodied and broken Barry find his balance, Diana listened intently for the thugs but heard nothing and continued to carry Barry to the vent and pushed him through following closely behind him. He stumbled numerous times trying to conceal his agonising pain from Diana. Then she heard it again, a cry for help but it was louder. "Barry follow the vent to the grounds outside here and I'll meet you there in a minute!!" she said in a hushed whisper." NO DIANA!! please you have to come with me you don't know what those men are capable of and I don't won't them to hurt you, Please!!" With a soothing reassuring voice Diana whispered " I'll be safe I promise now go and don't look back, if I'm not out in 3 minutes ....... get as far as you possibly can from here and go to the watchtower" before returning to the room leaving flash to continue on without her. Diana returned to the room and looked around knowing time was of the essence. A large white door in the corner lay hidden but somehow easily detectable " go through the door Diana " the voice whispered
"hurry they are coming for us"
Diana slowly made her way to the door placing her hand on the cold, iced handle. She looked around again as the darkness began caving in as the lights got dimer. She began counting in her head preparing herself for what ever lay behind the door "one.. two.. three.."

Hesitantly she pushed open the heavy door, allowing the smell of death inside to escape and fill the room. The room was dark and cold like she had opened a door to another dimension. Diana stared into the darkness only for a moment before she hesitantly stepped forward, each step evoking more fear in her as her heart beat became more frequent. She stood in the middle of the room using only the dim light from the other room coming through the door. The light crept in like an unwelcome guest revealing a long, rectangular object covered in a greyish wet look sheet.
"Please Diana help me!!" Diana placed her hand on the object, building up the nerve to pull off the sheet "That voice... I wish it would just stop!" Diana cried as the voice became louder like an unstoppable force like a sound wave, Diana clenched her fist with the sheet still entwined with her hand and ripped the old material from the object before collapsing in pain, the pain surged from her head and began traveling all over her body. She lay only moments trying to regain what energy she had but was able to move her head to view the whole object but only could see certain exposed areas. It was a tank of water, "an odd thing?" with something inside but what?. Desperate to know, she struggle to grab hold of the rest of the sheet but once in her grasp she pulled it effortlessly to the floor. Her eyes widened in shock "oh god.... John...John!! are you awake?" Johns body lay lifelessly floating in the tank of water. Tears began to ripple from Diana's eyes as she struggles to even breath. She stared at the tank for only seconds before she was finally able to raise her hand to press it against the glass, as her hand drew closer to the clear glass the voices returned but became even stronger leaving Diana in excruciating pain as she began to have flash backs of her life and the emotional turmoil she has dealt with over the years. Then all of a sudden john began to move, his hands began to emerge from the water but Diana lays oblivious to the regeneration of John and the regaining of his powers which is effecting Diana badly and her brain waves as his regaining of his powers starts to drain her powers. As Diana lays holding her head in pain, she rolls her body slowly onto her side. As her face looks on to the dim, blood drenched room next door, a figure appears before her. Diana's eye sight becomes fuzzy and somewhat unreliable on whether to tell if this being is friend or foe. But her fear of this being is quickly turned to shock as the strong, masculine figure picks up Diana from the floor without a word. The strangers warmth soothes Diana as he carries her out the room closely followed by a very confused but recovered John who grabs on to both her and the stranger and heads through the fairly small vent. As they exit Arkham, a sigh of relief parts Diana's lips as she sees the very weak flash waiting just beyond the exit. Still a little weak but relieved of the missions success Diana begins to regain her eye sight to find the mystery stranger is in fact........
