Chapter 13- Can she keep a secret?

Pat POV

I teleport into the tower of the Shadow Knight Castle. S-She just randomly hugged me... I feel my cheeks flush, my body heating up so much I might as well have a fever. What is wrong with me? Why do I care so much? I shouldn't care. I can't care! If I do then...

That's when I see Kerris in the hallway, waiting, holding the same crystal ball as I was before with one cold, clawed hand. To my horror, I see it was looking at me through it.

"...So Patrick." Kerris speaks to me with venom dripping from each word. "How did you decide you should go, without permission, to another world?"

"I-I only visited Earth..."

"Answer my question!" Kerris shouts at me. "And how did you learn that name, Earth?"

I look down. "Someone was in danger so I saved them. We talked and I remember the world is called Earth..."

"You mean her. The girl from all those years ago that betrayed you." Kerris spits. "Never go back there. Unless you want harm to come to your little friend."

I know what type of pain it's talking about. I glare at Kerris. "How am I supposed to tell Jen I can't go back without seeing her?"

"Do you really think she cares? Those humans will forget about you by the end of the week at most. It won't matter... It's never mattered to them."

I try to block out what Kerris is saying, knowing it isn't true. It can't be true, it just can't.. If Jen is willing to off a cliff just to learn my name, she is going to do something. I have to let her know I won't be coming back, if I even listen to Kerris. Even then, I need to tell Jen that it'll be hard to see her.

"Patrick, are you listening?" I look at Kerris, keeping a level eye.

"I won't go back to Earth." I lie. I'm better at it than most, not a trait I'm proud of, but necessary.

"Good." Kerris nods. "Now, go to your quarters and stay there until I say so."

I nod, and quickly walk to my small room. There, I start a plan for a little visit.
