Jen POV
I hear a small giggle behind us. I break away from the kiss and turn around. "W-Who's there?"
I see my mother peak out from the bushes with a smirk. Okay, that's twice now! I glare at her, my face turning red.
"How and why are you here! Especially watching us like this!" I shout. Pat sits in silence, blushing like mad.
"Oh you know, when we see two people fall from the sky right next to our kingdom that was just attacked, we'll just ignore it." I hear my father say sarcastically.
Pat slowly scooches away, thinking.
"Then why were you spying on us!" I yell.
"Well," my mom says, "we came here to investigate, but when we saw it was you two, we didn't want to "ruin the moment" and now that we know how you both feel and that I was right," she elbows dad.
"Now hold up." Pat interrupts. "You were right? About how Jen and I..." He looks at me and I just shrug.
Mom raises an eyebrow. "You forget my ability to tell when people are lying."
"O-Oh.... yeah." I whisper.
"Anyway, we both owe Pat an apology." Mom finishes what she was saying before.
Pat glaces upward, meeting my parents gaze. From the look he was giving them, I can tell something went down that I didn't know about.
"Okay multiple apologies." Mom mutters.
"Pat," Dad says, " you know why we did what we did. We weren't aware of what really happened, and blamed you for something false. For these things we are sorry."
"Okay, you don't have to be so formal about it." Pat mutters under his breath. I lightly elbow him in the stomach and he glaces at me, then back to my parents. "But I accept your apology."
My mother nods with a smile, but my father isn't done.
"And," his voice softens to a gentle tone, "we're sorry for the loss of your family, and more."
Pat flinches and stares at them wide eyed. "W-What?"
"What you told us, made me realize that even though we spent the last 20 years thinking you're going to sacrifice out own daughter, some people have it just as bad and you just don't see it."
"Thank you..." Pat stutters.
As my parents walk away I turn to Pat in confusion. "What was that about your family?" I ask in a low voice.
Pat looks away. "I'll tell you later."
A/N: So they're good now right, right!? No seriously they're good. Though it might be harder for Pat to talk about his past then Jen thinks.
