(1st) Hearts Combine or Break (Pat x Jen)

Ch- 38- Where is she!?

Pat POV

Ow ow ow owww. Everything hurts. Geeze my head.

I finally open my eyes. What the heck happened. I look around. The ground around me is burnt and seared, except for one small spot where someone could stand and the place I was laying. I stand up, gripping me head, trying to remember.

I got hit, and then I fell, I couldn't move or speak. Then I heard Jen's voice. Wait, where is Jen?

I glance around the area again. Where is she? What happened?

"Jen?" I quitely call out. No response.

"Jen?" I call a lot louder. My voice rings across the clearing with still no response.

Then I hear a voice that's all to familiar. "Jen is gone."

I quickly turn around, the King and  Queen are standing behind me, accompanied by Alex and James, both suited in royal armor.  My eyes widen.

"H-Hello." I mutter, remembering what the King said before I left. Alex, being the one who spoke first, snaps at me.

"Shut your mouth, Glow-stick."

I flinch at the old nickname they used to call me in school, then glare at him.
"Still immature as always, huh." I spit back.

"What makes you think, that something like you, has the right to speak to us like that." Alex said with his head high.

I meet his gaze. "Depends, do you need your nose to be broken twice?"

Alex opens his mouth to respond but is cut off by the King. "Silence, both of you!" He shouts.

"Now Pat. I told you to never come here, I told you what would happen, but here you are." The King says.

"What are you-"

"You are under arrest, and will be executed in three days."

My eyes widen. "W-WHAT!" I shout.

"I warned you-"

"NO! Oh heck no! I don't deserve that! I came here and tried to defend everyone, and you all just stood there! So why, why exactly should I be executed?" I snap, my usual patience and timidness completely gone.

All four of them look at me, startled. The King recovers quickly though.

"You know what your kind did! You all made a deal with that beast, to trade a girl with a pink soul, so you could all live happily and undisturbed. You all broke your promise. And now, Jen is gone. Necrosis took her, and it's all your fault!"

Now it's my turn to be at a lose for words. My anger starts to grow.

"Live happily and undisturbed?" I chuckle sarcastically. "You think that's what happened? LOOK AT ME! DO I LOOK LIKE I'M LIVING HAPPILY AND UNDISTURBED!" I feel tears well up, but I don't care. "I DON'T HAVE A HOME, FRIENDS, OR FAMILY TO GO TO. AND THE ONE PERSON I OPEN UP TO IS GONE! I HAVE NOTHING. I-I...."

I trail off looking down as they stare at me like I just grew three heads and one was the spawn of Satan.

"He isn't lying." The Queen whispers.

"But what about the letter?" Alex questions, glancing at me.

"Necrosis loves to trick people, he could have tricked you. Besides if I knew about this deal, then why would I fight him, and why would I try to protect Jen" I mutter.

The King takes a deep breath. "I, have a lot to think about. For now at least, we will leave you be."

"What!" Alex yells in outrage. "You can't be serious!" James, who I haven't heard much from, just stares at me blankly.

The King gives Alex a sideways glace. "You and I need to have a little chat." James mutters something to the Queen and she nods. They all start to leave, but James walks up to me.

"What do you want." I growl.

He refuses to meet my gaze, but instead hangs his head. "Nothing but for you to listen." He mutters.

Huh? What's up with him?

"I'm so sorry Pat." He says sadly, like he actually means it.

For a second I thought I was hearing things or I hit my head to hard, but James kept on going.

"I'm sorry about what happened back then. I was told by pretty much everybody I knew, even my parents sometimes, that you were, bad. So I tried to push you ask far away from me as possible. After all, you even acted weird." He says, hanging his head. "You probably had to adjust to  the human world, and with what you just said, I know I only made things worse for you."

I stare at James, shocked. "W-wha?"

He looks away, ashamed. "I understand if you can't forgive me, I won't ask for that after what we did. I just want you to know I'm sorry. I'm also sorry Alex hasn't learned his lesson."

Out of everything that just happened, that shocked me the most. James waves goodbye, and walks away.

That might not get me closer to finding Jen but... That was, surprising. Speaking of which, how am I supposed to find her. She could be anywhere in the world by now, if she isn't dead already. What do I do?
