"hiya, dally duck, it's brendon. i was wondering if you'd like to go out this afternoon?" brendon was sitting at his dining room table staring down at the slip of paper his crush had given him after class. he rehearsed his introductory words three more times and took a deep breath, finally picking up his phone and carefully dialed the number written on the tiny slip of paper.

the phone rang three times before he picked up.

"hello?"

"hiya, dally duck, it's brendon. i was...wondering if you'd like to go out this afternoon or somethin'? if you don't want to, it's whatever, but i thought it'd be nice to--"

"like a date? 'course i'll go out with you, darlin'," dallon's voice was excited and brendon sighed with relief.

"really? wow, that's never worked...um...coffee shop? noon?" brendon took the tiny piece of paper in his hand and fiddled with it.

"coffee shop? aw, you're the cheesy type of boy." dallon laughed. "see you at the coffee shop at noon."

brendon was so excited he could hardly wait until noon.

when he arrived at the coffee shop, dallon was waiting outside. he stuck his arm out to brendon as an invitation to take.

"m'lady," he said in a little bit of an english accent, causing brendon to giggle and take his arm. they walked inside and sat down at a cozy little table in the corner.

"how've you been, darlin'? people treating you well? anyone i need to beat up?" dallon asked him casually.

"i-i've been well. people are treating me nicely. and no one you need to beat up. yet," brendon answered his questions in order with a beaming smile.

his date with dallon was more questions and answers, four cups of coffee between the two of them, a shared plate of raspberry cheesecake ("it has to be the kind with the fancy drizzle," brendon had insisted when they went up to order it), and a lot of flirting. when the date was over, dallon stood up, offered brendon his arm again, and together they walked out of the coffee shop, arm in arm.

"i had a lot of fun with you, dal," brendon said to his feet shyly when they stood outside brendon's house (dallon had walked him home, upon brendon's request).

"i had a lot of fun with you too, sweetheart," dallon said while he gently lifted brendon's chin and placed a soft kiss on his lips. he pulled away, and brendon's face was flushed.

"woah...can we do this again? go on another date? 'cause i like you, dally duck," brendon said with a smile.

"of course, brenny bear."
