After about three more hours of excruciating pain, endless silence and so many emotions running through my head, I heard the door to the room slowly creak open.
"Here he is boss." I heard a somewhat familiar voice say.
I was turned against the wall so I could only see the shadows of three men standing in the doorway. A light shone from the single light that was hanging off of the ceiling. I heard someone open Jesse's cell door and then I heard Jesse struggling to get away, but I could tell he was insanely outmatched, it was pointless.
"Just get up you. We have to talk about the deal we arranged earlier." I think this was the "boss" that had said that. What deal was he talking about? I desperately needed answers. I slowly tried to turn around, ignorinng the shots of pain running up my side. I slid and squirmed around trying to get a better look without alarming the men that were just outside my cellar door, the men that though I was practically dead.
"I did what you told me to do, I killed all of those people, and hurt even more including Faith. I held up my half of the bargain so now it's your turn. Are the paramedics outside?" I heard Jesse's soothing voice say. As much as I hate to admit it, I still love Jesse more than life itself and I wanted to forgive him, but I can't bring myself to do that just yet. I think you can all understand my dilema, you know with a knife in my side and all.
"Yeah, about that." I heard the Boss start,"We have a slight issue with the matter. You see I can't risk saving her only to have a couple of Flunkies like yourselves running around telling everyone the information you have and ruining my entire plan to wipe out your kind. You already know too much, and so does she. We can't risk letting you go with as much information as you have." What was he talking about? Did Jesse do all of this so he could save me? Was this all just one big bargain?
"You fucking bastard! How dare you make me kill all of those innocent people and then break all your promises! I should kill you right now for what you made me do!" Jesse screamed.
"You have no right to speak to me that way! You will spend the rest of your miserable life in this cell if I have to hold you down myself! You think you are a man?! You think your the hero in this story?! You are nothing but a pointless pawn in my game!" The boss had a tone of authority, not that that would work on Jesse. For right after the boss spat out his last words, Jesse held up his fist and punched him in the jaw.
"I am ten times the man you will ever be! You... you little..." Jesse struggled to get his words out because the two guards had pulled him away and threw him on the floor.
"Keep him here until Monday. We will persecute him at noon"
"No! You can't! You are nothing but a murdered! You trample on other people and when they fight back, you kill them! You are a coward! You get others to do your dirty work and this is how they get repayed! Do you think I liked stabbing the love of my life with a knife!? Do you?! Because while you are busy trying to grow some balls to kill you own God damn Flunkies, she is lying there dying! Faith is going to die because of you!" He turned to look at me.
"Oh God. She... She's... No... She can't be." I saw Jesse look towards me, he knew I was still alive. He knew the pain I was in. I could see it in his eyes. He was kneeling at the foot of my cell door and he held my hand. I was still playing my little dead girl scene so the guards didn't suspect anything and he knew it.
It seemed to work too, because in the corner of my almost shut eye, I could a smirk growing on the boss' face. His plan was all coming together. Atleast that's what e thought.
Jesse held onto my hand until the boss ordered one of the guards to haul Jesse back into his cell. This guard hadn't spoken the entire time he was here. I caught a glimpse of his face as he turned to look at me before leaving. I saw pain in his eyes. Something was not right.
I had my eyes open for too long. I think he might have seen them open. He said nothing to the boss though, I was thankful. Maybe he didn't see me.
"Stay in here and make sure nothing happens in here." The boss ordered the guard. He and the other guard left and the second guard stayed and kept watch, as he was told.
"You don't have to pretend. I know you're alive." He said to me. His voice sounded familiar, like I had heard it before. I couldn't quite put a finger on it, but I knew it from somewhere. He has a muscular body and from what I could see in the dim light he had light brown hair. It reminded me of my fathers in a weird sort of way. I guess it was my subconscious trying to lull me into a sense of security. He opened his mouth to speak again.
"I am so glad your alive..." Was this a joke? Was this guard on our side? I had no idea what was going on. I tried to get a better look at him but the light was too dark to see anything. I guess he saw me squint trying to see him and he pulled out a flash light. He had a better angle in this kind of lighting to see me squint, I assumed.
He pointed the light towards his face so I could see him. I turned my head slightly to see the guard's face completely. When I saw his face I was stunned. He had brown eyes and a face that was almost chiseled to perfection. His features seemed so welcoming and warm. When I looked at him, I felt at home. This was no ordinary guard. It was Colt.
