Zara lifted her ticket and showed her number: 4. Goku grinned and showed her his three, the Saiyans sharing a smirk as their name's were paired up on the board.Piccolo sighed and turned away, trying to hide his unease. "Those two, right off the bat? That's trouble."
"Brings back memories, doesn't it?" Zara smiled at Goku as she popped her back, waiting for the first match to finish so they could fight.
Goku nodded his head as he rolled his shoulder, grinning down at his friend. "Sure does. Last time we were here, Piccolo was our enemy."Zara looked over to the Namekian, who was now busily watching the current fight. "Yeah, feels like a lifetime ago. We were, what, 18? 19? Now look at us; I'm 30 and you're 39. You're old!"
Goku grinned back at her and pointed at her. "We're the same age, Zara." She waved a finger and pointed at her halo.
"Nope, the dead don't age, Goku. I've been 30 for ten years!"Goku laughed and shrugged as their names were called. "Whatever helps you sleep, Zara. You've been around as long as me, so ha! We're both 39!"
Zara stood straight as Goku stretched, even removing his weighted clothing before standing up and getting into his stance.
"Let's jump right into Super Saiyan, if that's alright with you!" Zara nodded in agreement and they both burst into Super Saiyan, their hair flashing gold as they stared each other down.
The gong sounded and Zara rushed forwards, her fist slamming into Goku's and cracking the tiles at their feet. They exchanged a quick grin and Goku spun, sending Zara sliding back with his kick. She dug her feet in and looked up at Goku before putting two fingers to her head. She disappeared, rapidly appearing and disappearing all around Goku as he desperately tried to get a bead on her. She suddenly appeared behind him and slammed both of her hands into his head, putting him into the platform.
She disappeared again and Goku stood up, looking side to side before closing his eyes. He focused until he could practically see the trail her energy was leaving. He smirked when he noticed a pattern in her moves and he jumped up, slamming his knee into her gut and spinning, the same leg sending her shooting down into the ground.
Zara slowly got up and smiled at Goku, rubbing her head as they shared a laugh. "How'd ya manage that one, Goku?"
He floated down and crouched down, his aura swirling around him before fading away. "Well, Instant Transmission is useful in a fight, but it just lets ya move super fast, so you still left a trail of Ki. After a few moments, I noticed you were moving in a pattern, so I attacked the next spot in the pattern."
Zara nodded her head in agreement and crouched down as well, smiling. "Thanks for that. I hadn't thought about that, so I'm glad you pointed it out before I used that in the Tournament."
Her eyes narrowed and she smirked as her aura began to rapidly flow around her.
"Hey, Goku, we're friends, okay?" He tilted his head and her golden aura became outlined in red as it became more violent and sharp.
"Kaioken!" She dashed towards him, her speed making him step back in shock before her foot slammed into him, folding him before sending him rolling back. He stopped at the edge and slowly stood up, grinning as her red aura faded away until it was just gold once again."That was a neat trick, Zara. You'll have to teach me that one after I win this Tournament." Zara grinned back and folded her arms. "Yeah, sure Goku. That'll be the day!" She disappeared and so did he, booms echoing out from all across the arena and cracks forming in the tiles randomly until Goku and Zara appeared on opposite ends, dashing towards each other. Their auras flared up and they passed each other, both sliding to a stop and turning back to face the other. They grinned at each other until they both winced and dropped to a knee, dropping from Super Saiyan.
