"Kakarot, you're being too soft on her! She is a Saiyan of Royal blood and she will be a fierce warrior, not a clown like what your son has devolved into!"
Amara put her hands over her ears, waiting for her father to stop yelling.
"That's not why you're so hard on her and you know it, Vegeta! Try all you want, but she is not Zara! Stop forcing her to fill those shoes! Zara would agree and you know it; Amara doesn't have to be a fighter. That's what Zara died for!"
Thuds sounded through the wall and Amara heard the sound of fighting outside. She peeked out of the gravity chamber and sighed when she didn't see anyone. She exited and wandered into her father's room, floating up so that she could see the top of his dresser. She grabbed a picture frame and sat against the wall, staring hard at the picture of a baby Amara and a woman she had never seen before, asleep against a tree. She heard footsteps and hid the picture behind her as Bulma entered the room.
"There you are, kiddo. You okay?" She nodded and turned as Bulma sat on the bed, holding her hand out. "Let me see it." Amara hesitated before Bulma smiled.
"It's okay. I just noticed the picture of you and your mom was gone." Amara handed it to her and sat beside her, looking down with her.
"You look a lot like her when she was your age. She wasn't as smart as you, though." Amara smiled a little.
"But you're just a strong and as brave. Don't take it to heart when your dad gets upset with you. He blames himself for what happened, despite Zara telling him otherwise. He just wants you to be strong enough in case he can't be. You know it'd hurt him a lot if you got hurt, right?"
Amara nodded, wiping her eyes and getting to her feet. "I'll train really hard so daddy doesn't feel sad anymore!"
Amara yelled out as she leapt into the path of her own Galick Gun, feeling the familiar burn as she pressed her hands into it. She dug her feet in and clenched her teeth before spinning in place, throwing the beam back to where it started. She cupped her hands and chanted as a blue ball swirled into view between her hands.
"Kamehameha!"
"No, not quite like that, Amara." She looked up as Goku repeated the motions, pausing right before he threw his arms forward. He began to do it again and Amara copied him, slowly chanting with him as they formed the attacks. Hers lit up and she fired, the beam straying to the right slightly before hitting the practice dummy.
"Yeah, that's it! Keep practicing and you'll be firing those like a pro!"
"Amara, don't you think we should take a break?" She looked up as Trunks got to his feet, breathing heavier than she was. "I can't stop now, Trunks. I'm so close to getting it right."
"That move does as much damage to you as it does whoever you aim it at! It's a bad move!"
Amara growled and stood, shaking her head. "My mom made this move for a reason! It's just not finished!"
"I tried to get her to teach it to me after she used it on Radditz and when Vegeta told me she used it in space, but she refused. She said it took a lot of focus and it did so much damage to her that she couldn't willingly teach it to anyone. Didn't stop me from learning it on my own, though." Goku winked down to Amara before standing up.
"I'll show you how to do it, but I don't want you to use it unless you have no choice, okay?"
Amara slammed both hands together, cocking her right arm back as electricity burned bits of her gi away. "Blitz Wave!" She threw her hand forward, the white beam launching with a thunderous boom as the white sky began to warp. Amara cried out but followed through on the attack, shielding her eyes as it exploded far off.
She dropped to a knee, wincing as she looked down to her burnt arm. "It's not as bad as last time...that's gotta be a good sign. Maybe I can start using it as a Super Saiyan."
Vegeta and Goku were disagreeing on what move to teach Amara next when they heard her scream. They both zipped into the air, sliding around the corner of the building and seeing her. In front of her were a group of older kids, one of which was holding Amara's dog, Miz. Goku and Vegeta ran to the crowd, one worried and the other furious.
"What happened!?" The kid holding Miz held him out to Goku. "We cut the corner too fast in our car and..." Goku sighed as he took Miz while Vegeta grabbed the kid. "You mean to tell me you cut a corner on a road that's straight for a mile!? You mean you were going too fast in general and hit my daughter's dog!" The end was a harsh whisper and Vegeta was about to hit the kid when Goku grabbed him, turning him to face Amara. "What do you wa-"
Amara's hair was slowly spiking upwards as she let a feral growl loose, her eyes narrowing from her normal round eyes of innocence. A spark popped in her face and she clenched her fists, tears streaming down her face before a bright light enveloped her. It faded and revealed a golden haired Amara, her aura flaring up as she glared at the kid Vegeta had held.
"You kids are forgiven, youmayleavenow, gorightnow!" He and Goku shoved them into their car and they sped off as Amara continued to power up before her eyes widened and she began to cry, running to Vegeta and gripping his leg.
"I think I know what we're teaching her next, Vegeta."
Amara growled as her aura roared to life, brushing her bangs aside as she nodded to Trunks. They threw their arms to their sides, chanting in unison.
"Fu-sion..."
"HA!"
