Vegeta slammed his hands onto Yemma's desk, growling as sounds of Zara's fight resonated from the screen behind him. "You will let me go right this instant or I will tear this entire world to pieces!" Another scream from Zara forced Vegeta into Super Saiyan.
"I'm sorry. I know how hard this is but I can't just let souls run all over the Universe whenever they please!" Vegeta bared his teeth before turning away, his eyes drifting up to the screen.
"Prince Vegeta, I have grave news for you. Our planet was struck by an asteroid, and Lord Frieza reports no survivors."
A young Vegeta simply took a bite from the fruit in his hand, avoiding eye contact with the Saiyans in front of him. "Good riddance." The Saiyans left him alone and he dropped the fruit, slowly putting his head in his hands.
Vegeta looked away when Buu picked Zara up by her hair, wincing when he heard her scream.
Vegeta smirked down at the tablet in his hand, swiping through the file on the screen.
"Another Saiyan...a female at that." He swiped once more, seeing the identification screen pull up a photo of an infant in a pod. He typed a few things and the picture scrambled, rearranging itself until is showed what she should look like now. The hairs on his arms stood when the piercing eyes of a Saiyan warrior met his curious eyes, with hair as wild as the Saiyan Prince could've imagined.
Vegeta watched Zara block an energy attack and slid from the smoke, her legs shaking before she shook her head and steadied herself. "That's it, Mizuna. Don't go down."
"So, I've got a question, Vegeta." He simply glanced over to the Saiyan woman at his side, noticing the battle damage from their training.
"The Androids are supposed to show up in a month, and I was thinking about what Trunks said. About us all dying to them. Are you scared?" He felt his pride fire up, but quickly forced it out as he reminded himself that it was just the two of them.
"I am, but not about dying to them. My pride would be damaged, but dying to a strong opponent is acceptable for a Saiyan." She tilted her head and set her plate down in the sink. "So, what are you scared of?"
"Being the one who doesn't."
Vegeta paced back and forth, gripping his arms tighter every time he heard Zara yell. Each explosion or scream tore at his soul, and he feared he was rapidly reaching the breaking point.
"A Saiyan bond can't be broken, right?" Vegeta nodded as he finished adjusting his armor, turning to see Zara tugging her boots on. "Yes, that is what I said. Regretting your leap of faith?"
She shook her head, getting to her feet. "No. I'm just double checking. I want to learn more about the Saiyans, once this is over. If you'll teach me."
Vegeta turned to Yemma, about to shout that he accept his terms or else when he heard Zara yell.
"I will not let his sacrifice mean nothing!"
He turned to see Zara put two fingers to her head, fazing out of sight and appearing above Buu, blasting him.
"It's called Instant Transmission, it's a move I learned on a Planet called Yardrat. It's where I've been..."
Vegeta looked down at his hand, slowly curling his fingers to match Zara's before he pressed them to his head.
"I'll teach it to you once Cell is dealt with, okay?"
"Hey, Vegeta! Wanna go to Gohan's birthday party with me?"
"Hey, Vegeta, what's up?"
"Hey, Vegeta. You ready to spar with me?"
"Hey, Vegeta..."
"Vegeta..."
"Vegeta." His eyes snapped open and he looked at the screen, seeing Zara holding her arm as she got to her knees. Her chest heaved and smoke poured from her wounds as she coughed, slowly looking up with her one open eye as Buu charged towards her.
"I love you."
