I glared at my parents as they smiled sweetly at the sight of the two of us my mum especially just because I was holding on to my girlfriend's arm. My stomach started to rumble so I looked to the ground in embarrassment hearing the sound of my dads low warm chuckled and the quiet laughter coming out of the girl beside me, I felt like I wanted the ground to swallow me up. Curious to see why my mum wasn't laughing along with the others I glanced a look at where she was last standing before noticing her presence wasn't in the room with us. "Your mother and I are going out tonight son," my father said in a serious tone obviously noticing the confusion on my face "the two of us expect this place to be spotless when we get back, do you understand?" I rolled my eyes at him when I realised the smile plastered on his face with a friendly twinkle in his eyes to match. "Where are they going," I heard a faint Irish voice ask after the older male had left the room, turning to face my girlfriend I noticed a look of fear on her face making me pull her closer to me so that she was sitting on my lap it almost made me want to throw up at the fact that she was as weightless as she was. The front door slammed shut, whispering in her ear I replied: "just out, probably with some work friends and just because they won't get back until late doesn't mean they will be drunk." I hated that she was afraid of drunk people just because of her father. Oh how much I wanted to punch him in his stupid face and kick him in the balls as revenge for all the times he hurt his own daughter scarring her for life, leaving her not able to trust anyone except myself. I couldn't help but feel proud that she could trust me and only me. Still sensing the fear trapped inside the poor girl I wrapped my hands around her bony waist and pulled her into a hug, her back against my torso, the only thing that she would let me and no one else do. I never wanted to let go, forever staying in that moment but alas it had to end at some point. As she stood up I fixed my messed up hair, straightened my floppy beanie before I tripped over my own two feet in the process. A laugh, an actual physical laugh came out of the girls mouth and I nearly cried, it wasn't the fake laugh she put on at school trying to blend in and be normal. She wasn't normal though, one might even go as far as to call her peculiar, her green eyes standing out against her medium dark sandy skin covered in freckles and moles, messy auburn hair messily tied back in a half-hearted attempt to keep the wild waves out of her face. "Hugh... Hugh hello anyone there," a small hand waved in front of my shocked face. Another laugh, "of course, sorry..." I started to climb up the stairs, Fiona somehow behind me, "you coming?" I smirked turning to face the girl. "Of course," I continued to walk stopping in front of my bedroom door.

"Ladies first."

"Thanks."
