The Order (Shorter Version)

Mindy's Point of View

"M-Michael." Pakiramdam ko umikot ang paningin ko ng makita ko kung sino ang humawak sa akin. The last person na maiisip ko na makikita ko ngayon ay siya. Its been what? One year and a half? And I thought he wouldn't come back. After all, its what he told me the day he left for an overseas assignment given to him by The Order. He made an excuse to the Governor and say a family matter need to attend to. The Order made a cover up for Michael so the organization will not trace his whereabouts.

Four days after he saved me from being shot when I tried to escape, he managed to slip a phone in my pocket and ordered me to keep it far from the Governor's eye.

I wanted to cry then. I wanted to run away from it. But the fear for my parents' lives stop me from running away. It gave me sleepless nights, that whole damn weekend. It was Tuesday when he came by and gave the money from the Governor. Kasabay ng pagsasabi na binibigyan nila ako ng 3 araw para makalipat sa ibang apartment na inilaan para sa akin ng Gobernador. It was the same day he slipped the cellphone in my pocket.

Nanghina ako sa nalaman ko sa buong pagkatao ng Gobernador. Na hindi basta basta ang grupo o sindikato na isa sa lider ay ang Gobernador. Their organization is one of the leading Asian drug cartel which supported big names in drug syndicates all over the world. It is also connected with the Triads which serves as the head of all its syndicate but well organized crime.

Apparently, Michael is one of the intel, he is a member of The Order. Isa itong sikretong samahan ng mga umalis sa serbisyo para maging lihim na mata at espiya ng mga aktibidades ng grupo. Matagal na silang operasyon pero hindi makalapit sa grupo. Tatlong taon bago nila nagawang ipasok si Michael at ang dalawa pa nitong kasama sa loob ng organisasyon na may pangalang Dark Serpent. Sa Pilipinas ay may 10 miyembro ito na nakakalat para bantayan ang grupo na huwag malaman na may mga miyembro ito na espiya.

And there was a video. Its like an invitation to join them, be one of The Marked. The tattoo of the celestial dragon was like a brand of their secret group. Michael invited me as an opportunity to get away from the ruthless Governor. He also said that this might be the best opportunity to get closer to the Governor. The Order is very determined to put me on their side. Especially when one of the 'main man' of The Order, Corvez is President's media spoke person, Ramon Rellosa. Corvez is his alias in The Order which stands for the anagram Covers that signify his role. He was familiar as I have seen him several times on TV and once at the Capitol when the President himself visited Legazpi City. I was dizzy with so much information. That this earth that I have been standing is quite big for a small person like me.

I was 'in' that instant. It was like an answered prayer. For the next few months I have played the seductive 'mistress' luring him to give information as much as I could. There were different social function, discreet and public that I went out with him. But we know until he bedded me, that will be the time he would be spilling secrets about the organization.

I began to trust Michael and the cause of my 'role' in Governor's life. Michael became my mentor and a friend as well. He taught me everything that I have to learn from The Order.

But what happened to Adam has not entered the whole scenario. The guilt over washed me. That I was ready to help others but I cannot help the person who became the victim of my own folly. I left without thinking.

His eyes glinted when he saw the shock registered on my face. Luminga ito sa paligid bago ako hinila sa isang itim na Honda Civic na nakahimpil sa may bandang unahan ng subdivision kung saan nakatira ang magulang ni Adam. He opened the passenger seat and pushed me inside without a warning. Umikot ito sa driver seat. His face was set as he started the car and drive straight to the traffic.

"Have you gone mad?" His jaw was clenched as his eyes do not leave the road, sometimes he will look at the rear mirror. Michael is always alert. "You've been missing for almost a year! You are lucky that he was so damned busy with the big buy bust in Myanmar he did not use the organization to track you down."

Hindi ako nakaimik. I wanted to say he already saw me in Cebu. But the fact will anger him more. I looked at him. He was the same man that I have met a year ago. He is always been neat. Cool. Aloof.

And the look that has no fear with anything. I swallowed hard. I could feel my own hands are sweating.

"Corvez was upset. He knew you went after that damned racer." He said spitefully. "Really, Mindy? You went after that egoistic bastard---."

"Michael please," my voice shook. I never lied to Corvez when he found out that I left Legaspi soon after the wife of the Governor found out about my existence. Well, thanks to the bitch who told his wife about me. "Adam wasn't like that."I defended in a small voice.

He smirked. He looked at me for a second then laugh less-humorously. Ibinalik na uli ang tingin sa kalsada. We are heading to Ayala. "Wasn't what? Egoistic? He screwed you and cheated his fiancee that apparently killed the poor girl." May halong sarkasmo na sabi nito. "You think there is something saint-like with a man like him? Para sundan mo siya at magpa-alila?"

I still feel it. The remorse. The guilt. Its still here.

Napayuko ako. "C-Corvez knew it was my fault."

He cursed. "You are f ucking crazy, you know that?" He said angrily. "You put yourself in danger! And so your parents and The Order!" He was cursing more loudly as he honked the car in front of us. Nang hindi tumabi ang nasa unahan ay lalong napamura ito. I closed my eyes as I pleaded him to calm down.

He ignored me and drive straight to a nearest pay parking. He found a space far from the entrance and with no vehicles on either side.

"Shit!" He said loudly. "If I knew you'd be such a fool for that stupid racer, I should have not stayed that long."

Napakurap ako. I could feel my eyes become weary. "I was the reason bakit siya nabulag at hindi na makabalik sa pakikipag karera, Michael."

He laughed mirthlessly. "Don't give me that lame excuse, Mindy. You love the guy. That bastard who until now, do not have any idea who you are."

I swallowed hard.

He has no idea that I am Mindy.

That I am one of The Marked. Belong to one of the secret brotherhood to neutralize a large Asian drug cartel.

That my main purpose of being The Mistress is to kill the Governor himself.

No, he doesn't know anything about it.
