Aphmau (Pov)
I smiled to myself as I hummed 'They Don't Have To Know About Us' as I made oatmeal cookies. I smiled at the thought of Aaron's reaction to my little surprise for him. I heard the oven beep as I turned it off and took out the cookies. Perfect.
I heard my phone go off, a cute little song playing from it. I swiftly picked it up and brought it to my ear.
"Hello?"
"Yes. Miss, we've called to contact you on your friend and or family member, Zane Ro'Meave. He had you do as his emergency contact on his phone and we've called to inform you that he has been in a car accident today. If you want to come visit him it may be a while seeing as he is still in surgery, but he should be out in a hour or two."
"Oh... I'll be there soon. Thank you. Goodbye."
"Farewell."
The call ended and I let out a shaky sigh. I wrote a little note and placed it next to the tray of cookies before grabbing my car keys and leaving. My car ride there was tense and my wait in the waiting room was anxious and fearful.
I sat there frantically playing Flappy Bird as an attempt to calm my nerves in this situation, it did not. I heard my name get called and I walk over to the women. She told me the room number and what floor it was on. Once I got there, my heart broke a little.
He was hooked up to so many machines and his left arm and leg were in casts. He was bruised and scratched up, most likely going to leave some scars. And what I think scared me the most was his skin colour. Though barely noticeable, he had a bit more colour to his skin, which is an indication that he's either sick or has an infection. (That's actually a true fact. I know, I'm pale as fuck.)
I watched his face contort as he finally woke up. He looked over to me, I'm now seated in a chair next to his bed.
"Hey, Aph," Zane said quietly, a small smile on his face.
"Zane, don't scare me like that. I thought you were actually going to die, again," I said half serious but also half jokingly, a tear slid down my cheek as I smiled at him.
"Hey. I'm not going anywhere. Especially not before I see you get married," he joked weakly.
I gave him a soft chuckle before I sighed, "This is not your year now is it," I laughed lightly.
"Yeah," he said with a chuckle, "Hey, Aph. Can you, maybe not tell anyone that I'm here," he said cautiously.
"What? Why? Why wouldn't we tell them?," I asked him confused.
"I just don't them to worry, is all. Just say, I'm out on a business trip for a while, but if they keep asking and pressuring you on the subject you can tell them," Zane said giving me a hopeful look.
"Oh, okay. But just until you're released or the fifth time they ask about you," I said smiling.
"Thank you"
I heard the door open and I turn to see a nurse.
"I'm sorry but visiting hour is almost over. You can come see him tomorrow, but all guest must leave unless they're family," he said softly.
"Oh, okay. Bye, Zane. I'll see soon," I said waving to him as I left the room. I drive home listening to the radio, my mind at ease for a while. I go back inside and head straight to the kitchen to find Katelyn stealing a couple of cookie that I said on paper not to touch.
"KATELYN!!!"
