The first time it happens Luna almost isn't able to connect this weird pulling with anything. Almost.
She has heard the story before, of course, it was her favorite bedtime story ever and told by her mother with excited voice made it seem even more magical, because Monica Valente was giving her daughter this impression she actually believes this theory completely.
According to this legend, people are drawn to each other. Their atoms were near, close to each other when the universe was created and over time the same atoms keep coming back together and no matter how far they are from the others, they will always find their way back. Also when two people meet once, even by slightest accident, they will keep being drawn again and again until they are in one place.
Once mom told Luna that she may never trust this or have any faith in this, but when she feels it she would know that's the person she has been waiting for all these centuries.
For almost seventeen years of her life Luna has met many people, many boys and many girls, yet never felt any pulling towards anyone; that long she has almost forgotten about this beautiful idea of finding love.

Skating around Cancun couldn't be better when sun is shining and little, warm wind is tangling Luna's hair, tickling her nose with its ends. Maybe she cannot appreciate it completely, because she's in work now – she has to delivery some food to one of fancier, snobby parts of the city; hey, she knows her place, she can judge it a little.
When she's like in a halfway through to her destination Luna sees some skating guy in her way; in the middle of the sidewalk. She notices him early enough to pass him by safely. At least that's what she thought, because sudden pull to the left is stronger than her will to avoid him, he seems to be closer to her than he was moment before and next second she can feel how her tiny body bumps into his losing all balance.
The guy manages to stabilize her with sure grip of his hands on her waist. Luna raises her look at his face, trying to apologize, but as soon as her eyes reach his, words stay on her tongue letting her taste the silence and the fact bubbly Luna Valence is speechless (for probably one of first times in her life) is really new.
Something barely visible lights his brown eyes and the whole world seems to stop in this very second, because she feels like seeing old, old friend after three lifetimes and one century of missing. She has this impression of familiarity, well-known warmth and this strange peace suddenly takes over her mind, blinding anything else.
He decides to be the one who opens their mouth first, brave. "What was that?" Luna wants to laugh, because how would she know? Maybe someone pushed her towards him? Some rude person? Or someone in hurry? Ugh, it's so frustrating.
She still isn't able to stop staring at him; she doesn't even want to, fortunately her tongue has mercy on her this time. "I'm sorry, I don't know what happened."
He tries to pull his hands back to himself, though even if he manages, this weird thing pushes Luna slightly and softly against him and this is too much to handle for her. Why isn't she feeling uncomfortable? She should be blushing mess right now.
"Did you feel that?" She scrunches her nose at him not really believing that he can be serious about this. "This... I don't even know how to name that." He looks up at the sky and sighs being deep in thoughts no one knows what about.
Being done with calling him the guy in her head and feeling fast strike of courage, Luna ignores his question and blurts quick question. "What is your name?"
He smiles at her with smug smile and she regrets her words immediately. He seemed fine earlier, but if he's going to be snobby, sassy asshole, Luna will be sure universe hates her ultimately.
"I'm Matteo. You, delivery girl?" She notices his voice is nice, soft and somehow smooth. She likes his voice.
He extends his hand giving her encouraging look and the second she decides to take it, something does it for her; surprise in his eyes tells her that it happened again.
She decides to shrug it off as casually as it's possible. "I'm Luna." Matteo grins at her widely and bites his lower lip as if he was wondering how to put his thoughts into words.
"I feel like I already know you, Luna. Do you have any idea why?"
This can't be happening, it's impossible.
Who would've believed in a fairytale about space and creating the universe?
"I think I might know that, but it's very weird." It's a little awkward, he is completely focused on her and she needs to look at something other than his head. She eyes him up and watch on his writs reminds her she should be working, not staring at very attractive face of stranger she just bumped into. "I have to go, Matteo, I'm in work."
Luna moves away from him, but he stops her, his tone asking and really, really soft. "Wait a second, raise your hand."
Without thinking how weird it is she does what he asked and opens her hand in front of him. Matteo, with excited spark in his pupils, does the same, stopping a few centimeters away from her fingers. Nothing happens for a while, but when Luna stares at his eyes, their hands touch completely by themselves. Luna's skin fits to his skin and it's the weirdest feeling in her life. Little wow leaves Matteo's mouth and she really needs to go, because she won't handle this any longer.
"Matteo..." she starts and curiosity in his eyes almost makes her blush, "I really need to go."
"You can't go now. I deserve some explanation." His voice sounds playful, yet she can notice serious note too. He raises one eyebrow at her
"If it's what I think it is we will meet again and I'm sure it will be soon. But now I need to keep my place at work." Matteo seems to believe her enough to let her hand go gently.
"Can I trust you with that?"
"You can, I promise."
She couldn't lie to person universe chose for her.
