Chapter 2 /or/ about physics, paying attention and friendships

"I hate physics." Gastón whines as soon as they leave said class. "I also can't believe, Matteo, you didn't want to help me with that exercise." He pouts and frowns making his friends chuckle at him.

"I am sure you don't hate physics, bro," Matteo winks, "at least not every kind of physics."

Some students passing them start to giggle. Matteo smirks at two girls who definitely heard that and he shakes his head seeing them blush instantly. These two got his joke faster than Gastón and that's not the best for his friend.

"Besides," Italian starts looking half serious, "you should focus on actual learning this if you want to be an engineer."

"I don't want to be an engineer." Gastón answers too fast, not really thinking before opening his mouth. Matteo fist bumps the air being rewarded with disgusted look from Ambar. "What?"

"Nothing," she murmurs under her breath and turns to Matteo. "I hate you, I can't believe you did it."

"Can you two losers can explain me what you are talking about? Because if not, I'm leaving." Gastón crosses his arms watching them intently.

"Ambar just lost the bet. We made a bet who will make you admit you don't want to be an engineer, you book nerd." He shrugs but before he can anything more blonde interrupts him.

"If we are talking about physics, Matteo, maybe you could finally explain us this thing with your puppy girl?"

Matteo sighs brushing his fingers through his hair. He tries to pretend he can't see shade of curiosity on Gastón's face and soft blink in blue eyes of Ambar. Luna ran away again as soon as the bell rang and he can't really blame her, he and his friends can be overwhelming especially if one of them is Smith who had been complaining about Luna for whole weekend. The thing that still stings him is fact she didn't even send him a smile, she let out little breath of relief and turned around to storm off as away from them as she could.

It's shocking that any girl feels relief when she has the chance of leaving him behind, Matteo has never experienced that and Luna makes him really curious with her disappearing and managing, despite this awful pulling, to stay away from him and go without turning back. The pulling thing itself gives him mixed feelings. On the one side being constantly drawn towards girl, pretty girl, being pressed against her and seeing her blush is as appealing as nothing before but there's also this impression Luna isn't as comfortable with it as he is, she doesn't want that or at least isn't really eager for meeting him in the halfway.

"I have no idea." He just mumbles deep in thoughts, but he wakes up immediately. "But I guess she's doing hers and I'm doing mine, that's all." Ambar frowns at him analyzing every word he let out and he can say she doesn't like that at all. It's not like he likes it himself. He doesn't like the idea of making Luna uncomfortable near him, but staying away from her feels almost impossible even if he talked to her twice. He just wants more.

He is sure he is close to turning into a softie and no one wants that. It's better if he finds himself some distraction, really quickly.

Matteo changes the topic with sure voice and no one is surprised seeing him in his Matteo don't touch me with your ordinariness Balsano mode. "Can we go to next class already? I don't wanna be late, we should focus now, guys." He only catches Ambar whispering something to herself, but he doesn't really care smirking again. He can worry later hoping that later never comes.

She took his right side after he stormed off barely letting them join him in the corridor. Matteo's arm keeps brushing hers but it's not like she cares about it at this point; people may find the fact they are friends now – after break up - weird, yet it seems just natural and easier than to make themselves new friends. Meeting new people is too tiring and she's never sure if the person won't annoy her sooner or later.
