SIX MONTHS LATER
It was summer. Blaise had planned to take me out on a picnic tomorrow. Tomorrow was also our 6 month anniversary.
"What? are you sure she's ready?" I could hear my mom talking from the kitchen. I snuck closer to see what they were talking about.
"Yes we're sure. It's time she learned the truth." A woman's voice said.
"Kate...." My mother said hinting worry.
"I know Dana, I know. Can you go get her?" The woman- Kate said.
Ouh oh. What if they were talking about me? Eep! I quickly ran to the couch and grabbed a magazine. I flipped to a random page and started reading.
"Ruby." My mom said walking into the living room. " This is Kate."
Kate stuck out her hand. "Nice to meet you at last Ruby. We need to talk."
They led me to our family "meeting room." We all took a seat, my mom and Kate sitting next to each other and me across. I spun around in the office chair liking the feeling of my hair flying behind me.
"Ruby this is no time to do do this." My mom lectured. Buzzkill.
"Sorry mother." I said trying to be civilized.
Dana's (Ruby's Mother) POV
I can't believe its time. After all these years.
"Ruby this will be a lot to take in. Are you ready? Even your mother was barely ready." Kate chuckled at that.
"Uhh....yeah? I'm ready" Ruby said curious. My brave brave girl.
"Let's begin." Kate said as she took a breath.
"Ruby. You know how you can't remember anything about when you were little?" I dare to ask.
"Yeah except for what you told me." She replied.
"That's because some err... special, chosen people don't remember. You have a path set up just for you Ruby. And it's time to follow that path, to learn the truth". I look at her waiting for her response.
"I...I don't understand!" Ruby shouts.
"Calm down Ruby this reaction is perfectly normal." Kate steps in.
"Ruby sweetie..." I take a deep breath. "I'm not your real mother I'm just your guardian sent to you from above." I explain.
Ruby's POV
What the hell does this have to do with anything? Does she really think being cheesy in a time like this will make it any better? I mean come on " sent from above"? Seriously??
"What the hell do you mean guardian?? Of course you're my real mother!!" I'm shaking from all the anger and confusion.
"Calm down Ruby I'll explain." My "mother" says. " I was assigned to you for a reason. For one, we look the most alike. Second I was the only volunteer." She chuckled.
Assigned? What the fudge was going on here?? Volunteer?? I'm freaking out here!!
"Ruby." She said in all serious. "I'm your guardian angel."
WHAT?? Oh she can't be serious
